Orienteering race 1:26:39 [4] *** 5.5 km (15:45 / km) +225m 13:05 / km
22c slept:4.0 shoes: Inov 330

Not really "Middle" distance as it was announced. More like normal Classic despite being short due to a very slow terrain.
Map doesn't look so bad as reality was, ran without gators in short uniform. That wasn't wise at all, legs were bloody till the knees - green colors on the map represented different density of thick spiky bushes, agaves, and cactuses. Second day experience reveled that agave's spikes are more painful after rain, probably they produce some kind of ethereal oil - each encounter resulted in muscular crumpses and still, after 3 days looks more like bee's bites - swollen and very sensitive, with blueish areal around.
Blowout first 2 controls - was hard to say what and how cliffs, rocks, and boulders were mapped and what was not mapped. Main challenge was to find crossable path in this mess, don't get lost, don't get hurt, don't step on the cactus, and make decision that this 5x10m cliff in front is mapped as cliff and not as impassable cliff.
The rest of the distance was quite good, as good as it could be for my running shape, no errors, but rather slow - didn't have much gas to run after #7. Almost 2km altitude works just killing.
