Orienteering race 50:00 [4] ****
shoes: VJ Integrator

US Champs, Day 2, QOC, Green Y, 5.8 km, 51:33. I am quite happy with this run. My legs were not too tired after two days of racing and I didn't do any real mistakes on the course. The only thing I can complain about was that I tended to zig-zag a lot on the legs while trying to avoid climb. I had mentally prepared myself that it would be more classic ridge and valley terrain today, so I sort of panicked every time I saw a leg crossing a valley and tried to avoid it, when in reality the climb was minimal.

Apart from the sprint, the weekend has been a lot of fun and a great motivation to continue to train more regularly over the winter. I had good ambitions when 2007 started, but I have had over 200 injury- and sick days since Nov last year and it has been quite frustrating. I am actually surprised that my running has been this good during this fall season, based on that I wasn't able to run for more than three months during the summer and started to run again only a month ago.

Orienteering 50:00 [4] *****
shoes: VJ Integrator

US Champs, Day 1, Green, 5.2 km, 51.31 (5 min behind Peter Gagarin). A much better run than yesterday. I felt that I could move, even though I didn't have the strength to really push. I missed #5 a couple of min (I knew that I didn't have a good attackpoint, but continued anyway) and did a small error towards the end, but the run was otherwise quite clean.

Orienteering 20:00 [4] ***

US Champs, Sprint, Red, 2.7 km, 20.37 (3.37 behind Katta). I was quite disappointed with my run today. My running has been feeling quite OK recently, but I couldn't move at all today. My legs were just heavy and I had to walk in the uphills again. We had two "longer" legs where I lost one min each on a two min leg merely by being slow. No mistakes, though. In addition to the slow running, I was a little disappointed with how easy the course was. A couple of legs were along a trail without any turns or other difficulties. Not my type of orienteering at all.

Running 36:00 [2]
shoes: Nike AZV

Trail run in the dark by myself (Mark's knees hurt so he couldn't join me). It felt quite lonely and a little spooky. Especially when I saw the EYES. I think it was a herd of deer (4-5), but all I could see in the dark were all those bright eyes staring at me and following me with their gaze when crossing a field. My headlamp also felt very dim after having run with Ross's superlamp last week.
