Nordic Trak 1:00:00 [3]

I need to get in some skiing time but, alas, there is not snow to be found short of driving to Tug Hill. Nordic Trak is the closest thing since I wouldn't even dare to try something like roller skis...at least not without a bubble suit to absorb all of the impacts.

Great final run although I managed to step off a cliff between #2 & #3...luckily I got caught by the branches that I thought were part of the embankment as my left leg went through...my right foot didn't have such good luck and got caught on a branch bending my knee back...heard the pop but really didn't feel the pain...slid to the bottom which, luckily, was only a meter or so and kept running. Didn't really notice anything during the rest of the run except the heat which was easily over 90, I love running in the heat...kind of like being in Tuscon. After I finished I discovered a nice bruise on my left forearm...did a good job of slowing me down going over the cliff and that my knee was a little sore. Of course the knee got progressively worse...could put a bit of a damper on our tramping for the next few days. Not sure but I think the run was good enough to win my category for the Oceania...life is great!

It's really Monday here and I've just been able to check the overall results...I WON! I only won one day but was very consistent all week. Check out the W60 results

Hot day, tough terrain, steep hills, loved every minute...except on the way to #6 where I lost concentration, stopping at the wrong control way too soon then doubled back cause I thought I had gone too far...duh...and ended up 30m from #5...not a perfect run but had fewer mistakes than anyone else. WON THE DAY!!!!

Oceania Long Champs - 3rd place! I had one route choice error, attempted to go straight rather than taking the track around...luckily it was only for a short distance and probably cost around 2 minutes.

Spent the day first on the phone determining the location of our bags and arranging to have them flown closer to us then traveling to the airport in Palmerson North to pick them up. We didn't want to take a chance that they would be able to them to us in time to get them and still make the meet. Rick's writing a letter to Air NZ.
