Durand with Linds and Rick...wow, family time 2 days in a row! My garmin got shut off part way through so I estimated...I hate it when that happens.

snowshoeing 58:42 [2] 3.94 km (14:54 / km)

went out with Lindsay and Rick...wow, a family outing! Beautiful day, lots of deer tracks. My gluts are sore from yesterday's workout...go figure.

strength/stretching 1:00:00 [3]

did my leg workout individually...I found that my R leg is slightly stronger than my L but I was able to do 50% on each leg with the normal amount of stress. I don't think it took me much longer since instead of stopping to rest between sets I was able to switch to the other leg. I decided that it wasn't worth it to do the same with arms since I think it would be hard to maintain allignment since the machines are set up to do both at the same time.

snowshoeing around Cranberry Pond on the trail. Not very exciting, pretty flat but fun nonetheless. I did some running but my legs were not up to doing much.

X country skiing 1:10:18 [1] 7.65 km (9:11 / km)
ahr:93 max:93

this is the best time of year to be in Black Creek...no bugs, no swampy trails, no tunnel vision due to thick veg. My hr was recorded as 93 the entire ski...not sure what that is about. I know the reading was different when I checked it in the car on the way out....hmmm

ahr:105 max:128

Durand, mostly classic today with quite a bit of double poling...I'm surprising myself at how much DP I can do. Pretty windy, should have worn face protection, most fun I've had since yesterday!

Harriet Hollister Spencer...always good snow up on the hill...wish it wasn't so far away. Our timing wasn't perfect, the guy came to groom when we were leaving but it was still good skating.

good thing we went skiing yesterday, it's 35 and raining today :^( ...I really don't like it when this happens.

Webster Park, chilly but no wind, great snow, was able to skate on the roads and some wide trails, did a lot more double poling than usual.

X country skiing race (Ski-O) 1:25:50 intensity: (1:46 @1) + (13:13 @2) + (55:19 @3) + (15:32 @4) * 9.5 km (9:02 / km)
ahr:120 max:135 spiked:11/11c

great conditions...even the small trails were easy to ski. Since I consulted on the courses I did have a bit of an advantage but I still made a couple of route choice errors. I should have just doubled back after 2 but instead I kept going and got a little extra climb. I had a major stop after #3 (min. 16)...who would have guessed that duct tape doesn't stick to tyvek in the cold???? I had taped my punch card to the map holder and ended up carrying it in my mitten...should have just pinned it to my jacket like Rick warned me to do. After #8 I went up to the road since it was shorter but the snow along the side of the road was really slushy and slow...drat! ...still beat Rick since he skipped a control.

Saturday Jan 15, 2011 #

10 AM

snowshoeing 1:12:09 intensity: (10:24 @1) + (52:30 @2) + (8:17 @3) + (58 @4) 3.95 km (18:16 / km)
ahr:97 max:134

snowshoed through the woods then ventured out into the swamp in an attempt to get out onto the pond and make a loop...was fine until Rick went through the frozen cattails into the muck. Luckily he only went in just over his boots so he was in no danger except for having swampy smelling feet. That put an end to our attempt to make it to the pond so we had to double back...I hate it when that happens.

ahr:98 max:115

more creek skiing...the ice was firm but the snow cover made it very slushy with standing water in some places...can never truly understand where the water comes from...2"-3" of slush in some places with another 4"-5" of snow on top. We ducked into the fields where we could and were able to follow snow mobile tracks part of the time, for the rest I let Rick break trail ;^)

shoveling 30:00 [2]

Light, fluffy stuff, kind of let Rick handle the stuff from the snow plow...haven't done much shoveling yet this winter...I'm sure there will be more.

X country skiing (skating) 1:45:00 [2]

today was supposed to be a rest day...will have to postpone that thought since it was too nice to stay in...skiied Braddock's Bay...thought we would get away from all the fishermen that were on the other ponds but found the bay just as crowded. Forgot to take my garmin...we went SW on the creek to just past the second bridge before we had to turn around...also explored some of the side branches. Good ice with 1"-3" of settled snow...a few places with bare ice that was good for double poling. Lots of sun while we were out, a squall moved in as we were leaving...major snow action still going on. Rick was talking about holding a canoe-O in this area...we'll see.

perfect skating....all the snow from yesterday (only about an inch) blew off so the ice was great...no wind and a nice sunset...life doesn't get much better than this!
