other (mowing) 20:00 [1] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Since I am so out of shape, I guess any exercise should count. Worked in the yard for a few hours saturday morning. Only counting the time spent cutting the grass but since I have a fully manual mower, it does take some effort to push around. No idea of the actual distance since it is just back and forth across my front yard. Totally beat after 20 minutes and stopped without finishing the side yards. Only did the front.

Note

Caught another mouse overnight, but this time I drove to drop him off with the rest of his family.

Another mouse walk after catching another one in the evening.

walk (road) 48:00 [1] 2.3 mi (20:52 / mi)
weight:166.4lbs

Training has to start somewhere - so I went for a walk. Shiplett loop which I think is 2.3 miles. Did it at 9:30 pm so was blinded most of the way by facing traffic.

walk (road) 30:00 [1] 1.0 mi (30:00 / mi)
weight:166.4lbs

Short walk to get to the stream/wooded area in the neighborhood.

Have had a mouse making occasional appearances the last few months but he is a wily one and had avoided the traps. Looks like he has multiplied but not passed on his intelligence. Normally I release any caught mice at Burke Lake but Iolanthe woke me at 2am to tell me about this one. Figured the walk would be good for me and Burke Lake is closed at night.

Although I have been tired and sleeping a lot recently, I must have been getting enough sleep. Could not get back to sleep after this.

orienteering race (brown) 1:14:22 [1] 3.7 km (20:06 / km) +145m 16:48 / km
weight:165.6lbs

No exercise since February. Exercise makes me breath deeply, which makes me cough. Once I start coughing, it is hard to stop.

QOC meet at Cabin John park. Figured a short brown course in an open park on a warm sunny day would be a good way to start getting a little exercise. In short, a nice walk in the woods. I chose not to get my feet wet on the stream crossings, finding and using a log at least 3 times. Navigation was not a problem, right to all the controls except the finish. At the finish, I had not looked at my map to see its exact location and there was such a mob of people at the registration area, I did not see it.

Physically was very different. Jogged the initial downhill from the start and was out of breath by the parking lot. Some occasional jogging from then on when the course was flat or downhill and the woods were open, but mostly walked the rest. Uphill to 2 took a lot out of me which led to coughing fits on the way to 3 and a very slow leg.. Thought I might have to drop out but eventually recovered. Very cautious on the rest of the uphills not to get out of breath.
