Orienteering race (MelbushO: Candlebark Park) 47:26 [4] 8.0 km (5:56 / km) +86m 5:38 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

But of an unwelcome start to turn up at 11.30 and be told rather gruffly 'you better get a move on as courses closes at 1'. Felt like I'd been told off, and given that last starts were 12 and course closure wasn't publicised it felt a bit unfair. Not going to put me off orienteering but I could see how it might a newcomer.

Course itself ended up being good fun, a lot of a run but enough navigation that canny route choice could save you time. I got some of these right, others not. Had a fun head to head with Thor and Jon would def made me run faster.

Ended up 9 secs ahead of Clare but 9 secs behind Nicola - which I'm going to blame on going round to the right to 4, and then running knee into a log. Ouch.

Running long (Lerderderg Adventuring) 3:51:46 [3] 17.32 km (13:23 / km) +807m 10:51 / km
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 280

Enjoyed some lovely weather exploring the Lerderderg gorge with Clare. Ran along the river and fire trails but hiked the super steep up and downs. Nice place.

Thought I'd give the roclite another go. Conclusion as soon I have a steepish downhill I don't like them.

Running (Trailblazers) 42:09 [3] 5.47 km (7:42 / km) +151m 6:46 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Still a bit much talking instead of running but better than last week. Did some hills. Hard but good for me, and more technical that most hill training I've ever done.

Orienteering (Glen Iris StreetO) 46:39 [3] 7.34 km (6:21 / km) +88m 6:00 / km
shoes: Adidas Adistar Boost

Ended up being a bit of a farce as the maps/organiser didn't turn up til 7.30. Went out for 45 mins but was a little over, so still got a bit of a run in. Couldn't find a not so well mapped passage under the railway, apparently I'll know where it is next time...

Given the late finish was very thankful of the ride home

Orienteering race (Aus3day Sprint) 28:44 [3] 3.89 km (7:23 / km) +80m 6:42 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Super cautious on the granite at the beginning (my brain doesn't always cope with 1:5000 maps in terrain) so was slow but fine. Not quick round the rest, but confused with some steps looking like solid black lines and a bridge mapped as canopy
