Walking (paved roads) 9:20 intensity: (30 @1) + (8:50 @2) 0.76 km (12:14 / km) +28m 10:19 / km
ahr:104 max:110 shoes: Hoka Bondi7--W9D

Wanted to finish up the northwest corner of Lower Saucon Township, so did it in three outings. I'll have to do some road adjusting on OSM to get credit for some portions of roads, which are driveways in actuality. Finished two streets here.

Cloudy, temp in the low 40s with some breeze, but not as much here as in the valley.

2 PM

Walking (paved roads) 48:27 intensity: (5:05 @0) + (36:09 @1) + (7:04 @2) + (9 @3) 3.96 km (12:14 / km) +48m 11:32 / km
ahr:93 max:124 shoes: Hoka Bondi7--W9D

Got nine streets in Lower Saucon here, and chatted with a resident whose property straddles a county line and contains a concrete county line marker, of the type that were installed in the early 1960s. I'll have to do some research to see why they did it then.

3 PM

Walking (paved roads) 20:35 intensity: (1:29 @0) + (17:38 @1) + (51 @2) + (37 @3) 1.43 km (14:22 / km) +51m 12:12 / km
ahr:89 max:128 shoes: Hoka Bondi7--W9D

Then, so as not to leave a few streets behind, I finished the corner of Lower Saucon with these four steep roads. Nice view of the town of Fountain Hill, which is basically shaped like a saddle, with the main drag going through the lowest part and side streets climbing the hills on either side. The main drag (Broadway) connects South Bethlehem and the southern part of Allentown, on the other side of the ridge northwest of us.

View from near the top of Frederick Street.

Note
(rest day)

Think I'll take a day off. Body is still tired (legs felt tired yesterday on my walk); hope my arms are recovered by tomorrow's yoga class. ;-)

Note

Spike found a NWS writeup of the tornado that hit the LaGrange, GA area last Thursday evening as orienteers were traveling to the event.

Metal from the roof of a body shop down the road from where we stayed while in LaGrange (and a couple other photos if you click this photo then click the Back to Photostream link):

Ten new CityStrides Streets in Lower Saucon Twp. Once I finish up the NW corner of the twp I'll have to head to the more spread-out streets on the other side of Hellertown. I'm 2nd in the township on CS, with just over 41% of the streets, to someone else's almost 49%.

Upper 40s, partly sunny and a bit breezy heading west but fine heading east.

Finished up the section of Mountain Drive North that runs through Star Village (2008 DVOA A meet location), but the part that extends into Bethlehem is a low priority.

Noted some changes needed in OSM to take care of later. Found a new app, PlotARoute, to measure distances on the streets, for when RideWithGPS doesn't work for route planning (and distance measuring).

The new streets I added in the new neighborhood in Upper Saucon Twp now show up on OSM but have yet to appear on a CityStrides update.

3 PM

Walking (paved roads) 8:45 intensity: (23 @0) + (5:37 @1) + (2:45 @2) 0.7 km (12:32 / km) +18m 11:06 / km
ahr:99 max:115 shoes: Hoka Bondi7--W9D

And a bit more of Mountain Drive North to get the CS nodes at the eastern end. A node that shows up midway will remain un-gathered for now, but I got credit for the street in CS.

Yoga 50:00 intensity: (40:00 @1) + (10:00 @2)

Deanna's class; focusing on "agni" to warm us up. We did fire breath and some flow patterns that used many muscles.

My triceps, sore from catching myself on several falls this past weekend, were shaking and tired; I took it easy on them and didn't attempt any pushups from our one-legged planks. ;-)

Sweetwater Creek SP, Red trail along creek to New Manchester Mill ruins, then continued down to White Trail connector where we headed back N. Bushwhacked to Green trail up to Jacks Hill area where we connected with a different section of the White trail and back to visitors center.

The red trail had signs warning of moderate to difficult sections, and there was some scrambling and eroded areas to traverse, so I was glad I had worn both O shoes (albeit really old ones) and my ankle brace. Hiking pole might have been handy too.

We were surprised to see a permanent course marker (A) near a very large cliff along the creek trail, but not so surprised when we saw J, K, L, and M later on along the White trail. ;-)

Orienteering race (Brown Y) 1:02:14 intensity: (2:22 @1) + (20:08 @2) + (24:55 @3) + (13:33 @4) + (1:16 @5) *** 4.13 km (15:05 / km) +88m 13:38 / km

GNC Brown Y day 2 at Lake Franklin, 3.6 km, 120m climb. Low 40s to start but it warmed up to mid 50s by the time awards started.

My day began auspiciously with good scores on rhe morning puzzles I play, so I had hope for success today and mostly delivered. One small bobble on #7 where I stayed too low rounding the spur until I figured out I needed to be higher (also, forgot to take a split here). One stop en route to 4 to let a youngster know where he was.

One fall on the way to the Go control; small bruise on my right hand.

Nice day; ended up 1st of the old folks, though there was an M-Brown who finished in less than an hour. Finished first of three in F70; awards for non Jr Nat'ls were coffee mugs with the event logo. I technically won two but am only taking home one (Glen got one for Friday, which had separate awards from the weekend).

Note

Went back to Beacon Brewery for dinner; had the black IPA again, and a veggie fried rice bowl (along with the potstickers app again); Glen added pork to his.

7 PM

Note

For now, results.
