Curly Horse neighborhood and Hopewell Park, with Glen. Overcast this morning but clearing up (blue sky to the north); low 60s.

Taped my ankles and took a hike, mostly on the park road, while Glen re-ran a UsynligO course at Hickory Run SP. I did venture onto the Ridge Trail between the maintenance area and the road ford; picked up a stick for a hiking pole and went slowly due to rockiness and the occasional downed branches blocking the trail (at the start, for one thing!). Almost 60.

I made it up to Camp Shehaqua about the time Glen finished the course, so we walked back to the car together.

D&L rail trail S from the Tannery parking lot at Lehigh Gorge. We checked out a couple of old locks from the mid 1800s (a 30-hour rainstorm washed logs down the Lehigh which destroyed some of the locks in 1862), and Mud and Sandy Runs...too many small trees in the way for a good view of Hickory Run. Leaves are turning, adding some yellows and reds to the hillsides, but this area is not at peak yet. Mid 60s, sunny.

Wore HR strap, but am pretty sure it didn't have good contact. 185 seems rather high. :-)

Well, this was encouraging, to say the least! Ankle was feeling significantly better this morning, and so I figured I could try a longer walk, with perhaps more speed than yesterday's shuffle.

I had taken yesterday's tape off, but re-taped before this outing. Only some periods of tenderness; otherwise an almost normal walk, albeit a bit slower than I've been doing (didn't think pushing speed was a good idea).

62, sunny and breezy with scattered clouds, so a long-sleeved shirt felt right even though I pushed the sleeves up occasionally.

Test walk after straining my ankle at the end of yesterday's hike (d'oh!). Taped it because neoprene compression strap didn't fit in my shoes. Took acetaminophen first; ankle was starting to feel somewhat better by the time I reached a mile. Elevating it now.

Low 70s, sunny, and quite breezy.

Star Village/Mountaintop Campus hike, mostly on trails/bike trails. Saw one biker, in two separate parts of the park. :-) I wouldn't want to bike those trails; rocks are too large for my comfort. Temps in upper 60s (sunny but I was in the woods most of the time). I took an O map so I knew where the trails went.

The track is pretty wonky as I didn't jump around the mountain but stayed on the trails, so distance/climb are probably a bit less.

Shortly before reaching the parking lot at the end, though, I wasn't looking where my foot was stepping and my right ankle turned over on a piece of broken pavement (old road bed parallel to Mountain Rd). I could walk on it back to the car, but I'm icing it now. This may cut into my mileage for the month. :-(

Nockamixon bike trails. Forgot to start watch until partway through Eastern Woods. Adjusted time and distance for logging here.

Mid 60s and partly cloudy, cool to start in short sleeves but I warmed up quickly. :-)

Same route as last time here except I did the fire road and Cold Spot counter-clockwise. Otherwise exactly the same, so I borrowed distance/time

DVOA Hibernia Brown course, 3.3 km, 69m climb

Not clean to 2, 6, 10; relocated on 8 from the stone wall segment to the east. Forgot to take splits at 1, 4.

Didn't feel like subjecting myself to a longer course on this green map; this was plenty and I found plenty of low prickly stuff. But it's another beautiful, sunny fall day with temps in the mid 60s.

Walked Yellow trail at Sadsbury Woods Preserve, which loops out to where the Compass Quarry was, but we never saw what looked like a quarry, just a bunch of boulders here and there. (No compasses, either.)

We may have missed the better part of the quarry. Someone hiked it in winter and found more rocks.

Woods had large trees but lots of greenbriar and raspberry undergrowth.

We did see a bird which we think is an ovenbird birders at the Audubon Society identified as a Swainson's thrush, and a snake which at first appeared to be a garter (black, yellowish stripes) but then it took a defensive posture and we noted more markings than a garter snake usually has. Hmmm.
