Greenbush (old Cat's Agenda) map, abbreviated green course (because it was raining and I couldn't read the map well). I spiked all the controls I went for:
1-2-3-4-5-9-10-15-16-17

Then, of course, when I was done the rain was letting up, and it would have been great to be starting then, but I decided my time would be better spent removing the sticky seeds (three types today as opposed to yesterday's two) from my soggy socks and O pants.

Chatted with Brenda afterwards; she decided to do Orange today. Mary finished the Green. :-)

Day 1 of Greenbush 2-day local event put on by Badger Orienteering Club, resurrected with the help of Soupbone and others. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to return to this challenging terrain. We're here this time around a month earlier than when the US Champs were held here in 2009, so there are more leaves still on the trees, reducing visibility; vegetation has changed somewhat, as well, but not significantly, I don't think.

4.7 km Green course on the map we used for the champs day 10 years ago. It was overcast and breezy, about 75F, but humid; definitely a sweat-fest.

Woohoo! I won a split. :-)

AP says I have errors on 3, 6, and 13; but while I was slow and careful to the first two of those I found them where I looked for them (though I wasn't sure exactly where I was part of the way to 6--I heard voices and went that way).

I count my non-spikes as 8, 11, and 13. To 8 I was attempting to head east to the hillside and climb at an angle to hit the giant depression closer to the control, but ended up crossing and descending into the teardrop-shaped depression 100+ m south of the control. To 11, I took the trail until I was past the darker green blob near the trail then angled into the wider low spot and towards the two-contour hill (or so I thought) but ended up climbing most of the way up the four-contour spur/hill to the ENE before noticing the flag was on the lower hill to my right....

Biggest error was on a short leg (just over 100m) near the end, where I mistook a bigger (wide open) depression for a small one I should have followed. When I didn't see my reentrant I searched around for too long before deciding to relocate from the trail almost 200m north. About 18min lost on what should have been a 3 minute or so leg.

Because the depressions were often 3-5 close-contours deep I tended to do a lot of contouring and using saddles and ridges where I could in the negative glacial terrain of Greenbush.

In Wisconsin to revisit the 2009 US Classic Champs terrain near Greenbush.

Perkiomen Trail starting at Green Lane Park and heading toward Schwenksville. Beautiful almost-fall day, sunny and around 70F. Turned around just after the MP labeled 16 miles (from the Schuylkill, I think).

Didn't need anything more challenging (after my bruises from Tuesday's falls, and getting a [2nd of two after the one I got last year] pneumonia shot earlier in the day).

Nockamixon State Park, trails maintained by RideNox, on the northeast end of the lake. Parked at the Tower Rd lot. Upper 60s, near 70.

Upper section of Cold Spot trail, Hammer loop, and Haycock Run loop (though I cut off a section since this is my first time riding here). Fell two or three times but no major damage (arm scratches, and leg bruises where I hit the bike during my falls).

Wore a shirt with longer sleeves to cover up my arm gashes (falling into a tree on the first part of the ride today).
