DVOA Batsto -green course, 5.3 / 85m nominal.
Lots of blueberry bushes in the woods so good training for West Point. About 60F and overcast.

One place where there was an extra unmapped bike trail I miscounted trails so did a short distance in greenbriar before backtracking. Otherwise I was pretty solid on navigation and choosing attackpoints.

Focus? Some kind of acupressure good for kidney and gall bladder function. ;-)

Yesterday we spent hours at the NY house with yard cleanup and a few other things. House across the street from it is for sale! A young couple spent tons of time and effort into fixing it up, and now they have to move. :-(

Saucon Rail Trail from Reading Dr headed south. The spot where I had turned around last time on the trail (when I ended up going 50% farther than planned) was only 400m from the Reading Dr parking lot.

Jgged 2.5 km, walked to the next road (which happened to be a half km) for recovery, jogged anther 2.5 km, and walked a half km. About the best I can do these days for 5km. I was hoping for more shade from trees but there were open areas adjacent to back yards.

Temp display on my car was 68 when I left home and 83 when I returned. Actual was probably somewhere in between (so, 70s).

Note

Fingers crossed....

From parking to the eastern end of the abandoned tunnel of the PA turnpike at Breezewood. We also went into the tunnel for a ways* (with headlamps)...since it was in the mid 70s outside, the tunnel temp was probably 15-20 degrees cooler if not a greater difference. We explored the remnants of the entrance as well. Took a look at the part of Wooden (edit: not Covered) Bridge Creek that flows nearby too (but have no idea where the wooden covered bridge might be).

*If anyone is familiar with that tunnel, we went as far as the graffiti with the longest English word and the longest nonsense word from Mary Poppins.

Orienteering race (urban sprint) 27:23 [5] *** 3.19 km (8:36 / km) +1m 8:34 / km
ahr:142 max:155 spiked:17/17c slept:6.0 shoes: Sauc TriumphISO-silver/gr/blue

Sprint in downtown Columbus IN. Very fun course. Had to take a couple of walking breaks to catch my breath but kept on moving otherwise. It's going to be a challenge to keep up the pace in the second sprint.

Orienteering race (park sprint) 23:48 [5] *** 2.49 km (9:33 / km) +4m 9:28 / km
ahr:145 max:159 spiked:14/14c shoes: Inov8 ORoc280-A 2013-08

Second sprint of the morning, about 2-1/2 hours after the first, from the Mill Race Community Center (we walked about a km north to start and then ran through the long, narrow park along the river that is the western border of town).

AP shows an "error" on 12 which was basically a flat run to a culvert (cave). Like the run-in, it's more a function of the speed I don't have for straight running.

added: Between the two races, Lex B won one and I won one; she beat me overall by 17 seconds.
