Note

Successfully completed two errands today; still working on the third. A bit of mall-walking (and climbing in and out of the car) but not enough to log.

Orienteering race 2:02:30 [4] *** 7.8 km (15:43 / km) +245m 13:35 / km
spiked:10/13c slept:6.5 shoes: Inov8 ORoc280-A 2013-08

Green course at HVO-Westmoreland Sanctuary in Mt Kisko. Temp around 50 and overcast. Nominally 6 km / 235m

I hate making errors on the first control, but that's what I did here, doubting myself and the map, and relocating from near the trail 5 contours up from where I was supposed to be. I think I was almost to it but the hill seemed to me to be curving away (re-entrant-ing) much more than mapped. D'oh.

Then good for the next three, but overshot number 5 because there was more rock out there than mapped and I went by it. I eventually decided I'd gone too far and returned. Glen passed me on the rocky, leaf-covered downhill leaving the control as I carefully picked my way down.

Fine on most of the rest, with a nice trail interlude on the long leg 7-8. I hooked around the hill to 10 instead of going between it and the next one so I'm counting it as a non-spike.

Lots of trails and stone walls on this map make relocating easy at least. New map from lidar and undergoing refinements but in pretty good shape. Nice course and a good workout. I was in last place on green when we left....

Pilates class (ball) 55:00 [1]
slept:7.5

Large bouncy balls, meaning we started with a standing warmup (yay! I woke with an even stuffier nose today than it has been lately [allergies] and wasn't relishing the thought of focused breathing while lying on my back as we often do to start this class. I'd rather just get right into movement). Includes roll-ups with legs extended/feet on the ball.

During the hip stretch (sitting cross legged, bend forward) I could not bend forward more than a few degrees because hips were still right from the weekend. Typically I'm loose enough to rest my forearms on the floor.

Exerc. Class 50:00 [1]

Hips sore going in but loosened up. Stretching surely helped. Arms/shoulders tired/sore.

Pilates class (weights) 50:00 [1]
slept:7.5

Sunday evening I could barely move, Monday was a bit better though sore in the morning. Today almost back to normal.

While most were doing weighted leg curls from hands and knees I did them standing, or at least until hamstrings threatened to cramp (standing leg, more so the left than the right). Otherwise no difficulties other than the normal ones.
3 PM

Walking 52:10 [2] 2.99 mi (17:27 / mi) +60m 16:25 / mi
shoes: Sauc.Shad.6000#7-2012H

Balloon-loop walk in MB with Glen, trying to get the kinks out.

Forgot to mention it was a balmy 60 degrees F out. Nice.
