Orienteering race (sprint B) 50:13 [4] *** 2.1 km (23:55 / km) +110m 18:57 / km
spiked:4/7c shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2


WCOC sprint at Ratlum Mountain. I chose to run sprint B first because most everyone was doing sprint A and I dislike distractions. I made enough distractions of my own... I started out making the number for the last control (7) look like a 1 and ran the wrong way out of the start--d'oh! Managed to do a little better in the middle of the course, but disaster struck again after # 6 where I was unable to keep a proper heading and went south into a swamp instead of west towards the finish. Lots of wandering here. I figure at least 10 minutes of error; probably more.

Weather was beautiful (60's and sunny) but the woods are thick in many spots, so it was a slow-going day.

WCOC sprint at Ratlum Mountain, running A as my second sprint. I knew what to expect from the woods this time around. I count # 6 and 8 as non-spikes because I wandered from my planned route, though I found both without major problems. Interesting cliffs at # 7 -- I wonder if this is where Charlie's bear den was...

My thinking was, they need and infestation of laurel Bison! Weevils might eat the leaves, but wouldn't get rid of all the woody parts...

Step aerobics at the Y. Got a good workout and was dripping by the time it was done.

FitLinxx machines at the Y. I added weight on a couple of the machines (including leg press), and can feel the effort now. ["5145 lbs in all"]

Today was more of a strength and stretching kind of day; the only aerobics were in the warm-up. Then we did various things with weights and mats... Guess I should do a walk, run, or hike this afternoon ("but will she???").

Walking (trail) 50:00 [1]


Hah -- I DID go walking. :-) A little more than 2 miles at Hand Hollow, with Rob. Time estimated (though I had a stopwatch going) because we stopped to investigate a turtle on the path (spotted?), a toad, and some other sights since he'd never been there before. Nice day!

Didn't take the binoculars, but could see activity on the two heron nests.

It didn't seem too strenuous, but I broke a sweat, and could feel my legs (of course, that could be a function of going ~15k on them this past weekend).
