Walking 3:08:00 [2] 5.2 mi (36:09 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

Glens trails at Ricketts Glen State Park in PA. We walked from beach parking (it wasn't a good beach day, but that meant it was great weather for hiking), down the Glen Leigh trail, as far as the lowest waterfall near Waters Meet, and back up the Ganoga Glen trail, then across the Highland Trail and back to the beach parking lot.

I hadn't visited this park since I was a child and remember being awed by all the waterfalls. They're still pretty impressive, but I've seen a lot of waterfalls since then, including some awesome ones at Yosemite...

Walking warm up/down 5:00 [1]
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Walk to start of COC-Long was much easier, just down a trail about 70 m from parking. Start was only delayed an hour plus 8 minutes this day.... It's just not good to see the setters still organizing the bags/epunch stands when you arrive at the parking lot

Orienteering race 1:14:50 [4] **** 5.04 km (14:51 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 (old)

Again, complex terrain with a lot of "negative" features. With tag lines on the map my problem was more 1) not going far enough (despite it being a 1:10000 map) and 2) not believing the contour lines (remnant of Saturday's race?). Oh, and I got caught in the cedars (looked like medium green on the map but was almost impassable)... Most of my mistakes were poor map reading rather than poor map. I was in 6th place when we left...

Walking warm up/down 25:00 [2] 2.1 km (11:54 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

Walk to start (advertised shuttles did not materialize), Middle course of COC's. Registration packets didn't show up until 9:30 (advertised at 8:00). Starts delayed 2 hours. Sheesh!

Orienteering race 1:32:14 [3] **** 3.47 km (26:35 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

COC-Middle Distance Course 5. Complex terrain mapped with generalized contour details and no tag lines indicating up and down caused me difficulties in the middle section. Will do more analysis later, but I had trouble on control 5 and controls 7 through 10. Finished 8/14, I think (they finally posted results on Sunday).

Walking warm up/down 30:00 [1] 2.1 km (14:17 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

Walk back to cars from race (up and down the hills again)--just what we needed; more exercise!

Walking warm up/down 12:00 [2] 1.0 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

Walk/jog to start for Sprint (delayed 1:30 from advertised). Great courses by Nick Duca.

Orienteering race 31:42 [5] *** 2.5 km (12:41 / km)
shoes: Jala Jukola Spider 6 #2

COC Sprint. Fun sprint despite the problems with epunch boxes not working (we had early starts) and having to punch my map (in a line with others at some controls).

shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

Running (paved) 42:07 [4] 3.4 mi (12:23 / mi)
shoes: Saucony Shadow 6000 8.5 #2

66N to Pitts Rd (far side of intersection). I was going to do 4.2 today, but my knees were aching so much from the outset that I cut it short. Time to break out the ice, I guess.

Note
(rest day)

Rest and recovery day! Hips, knees, and bruises are sore from the pounding and relentless orienteering of the past week-plus, so I think I deserve a rest.

Walking 1:00:00 [1] * 2.2 mi (27:16 / mi)
shoes: Trail NB 706 9D # 1

Walking in River Bend Natural area in Ft. Collins, CO before heading to the airport. A very nice area of a few hundred acres with several ponds created by earlier gravel mining and bordered on one side by the Cache La Poudre River. Lots of birds - herons, egrets, ducks, geese, and smaller ones, too.

Glen carried the map, but I looked at it too to see where we were. Time includes stopping to watch birds and to look around. :-)
