The Short Stumble, at Rocky Ridge County Park near York, PA, hosted by SVO. (We were in the area for Thanksgiving.)

Showers overnight and a few in the morning which were done before race time, but made for wet woods underfoot. Leaves were all down so very good visibility. Temps were in the low 40s so the extra shortsleeve shirt under my heavier top was the right choice.

The full Stumble did the same first loop and then come back to the parking area to pick up a map for a loop on the other side of the park, which is located on a long ridge top divided by a major power line.

I could do some jogging on roads and trails (particularly downhill) but any uphills were practically at a crawl. The last almost-km from the final control seemed to take forever (and did...my split was just under 19 minutes). Wish I could have jogged a bit but the body wasn't having it.

Watch time was five minutes faster...I think all the Stumblers' starts were listed at 11:00 but we didn't start until a few minutes after 11.

Good course with not a whole lot of climb (nominal was 7.3 km, 265m climb) and the navigation was straightforward on some controls with some trail options and solid attackpoints. I did the two boxes/windows in alphabetical order both times. Almost skipped the second one in the second box after setting my bearing too early but when things didn't match (saw boulders where there weren't any mapped) I corrected. Checked rocks too early on the way to 4 but was helped by having others around, and was a bit high on the hill to 11 (having passed right by 17 on the way) and bounced off the large boulder to the west. Nice excursion, and I earned a reward for finishing under 3 hours.
