Before the race, I was debating whether to wear the icebugs one last time, since they were on their last legs, and caked with swamp mud from yesterday. While they were sitting off to the side, out of stink range, Barney watered them, perhaps trying to clean the muck off for me. I wore my trainers instead.

Coming into the weekend, I was either going to orienteer both days, or start the clock on 30 days in the walking boot. I decided to orienteer, though I was regretting the decision on the way to the start, when the pain in my heel/achilles was telling me that this was a bad idea. I had taken advil yesterday before I went out, so my feet weren't talking to me then... Pain eased off and was bearable by the time I got to the start.

Today's classic error happened right out of the start, where I went to the remote start triangle but was navigating from where we picked up the map. Sorted it out, and then around the course with no issues. Not able to run much on the beautiful mix of grassy and dirt trails, but I was happy to be out in a beautiful park.

My buddy, Barney, and me! I forgive you.

I really enjoyed this course, even the climb from 2-3, which I had been forewarned about.

Climbing up and down the back hill with Pepper on a regular basis has been helpful.

Had a classic mistake from 4-5, where I switched to navigating to 6 partway through the leg. No worries, just a little more time in the woods for me!
