Note

Drove to Philly after the meet yesterday to spend today helping my aunt in her garden - likely moving mulch up the hill, but we got rained out. So, we ran errands instead. A good visit, despite starting the drive home waiting through a 45 minute delay because of an accident on 476.

Four months into the year, and I have matched the total hours trained for all of 2015. And, while I had a bad week in April, the training has been pleasing in that it has been consistence, not something I am usually very good with - hours each month = 24, 24, 26, 24.

Orienteering 1 [1]
weight:179lbs

Brown - middle...started out towards #1 but got so distracted by my pants being loose and feeling like they were falling down that I stopped and then went blank as to where I was. So, after cinching and rearranging, I headed back to the start for a do over.

Orienteering race (Brown) 57:36 [3] *** 3.4 km (16:56 / km) +140m 14:03 / km
shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

FR = 3.38 miles with 82m climb

Off again...pants stayed up...was surprised that my time was under an hour, even with the 11+ minutes included for the restart. I felt like I had bumbled around so much.

Tracks show that I was really close the first time to 1, just 20m short. Oh, well, better to reset when you have no idea.

Orienteering race (Sprint) 35:23 [3] *** 2.6 km (13:37 / km) +115m 11:09 / km
shoes: Pink!! Ice Bugs

FR = 2.03 miles with 57.4m climb

More a middle than a sprint, and very technical. Ran into and with a train from 7 on, including Tom N. Even Tom has to agree that he maybe mispunches more than his fair share. So, with that in mind, I reminded him to check his codes, and he did, only they were from his earlier race. He sorted that cleanly and we had a bit of a battle near the end, mostly with him leading and me hanging in the best I could. Coming out of 12, I was so gleeful of my clean line to the Finish and waited there for Tom to come in. Heehee. And, then karma hit me in the butt. I skipped the last control. Not sure if Tom knew that at the time or not, but either well, it was well played. Obviously, I need more practice head to head. Despite the mp, the last part of the course was a blast.

Swimming 40:00 [1]

First 400 in 805 sans music since those are the race rules next Sunday. Wow, just a week away. Time has flown by.

Chest still a little crackly so used inhaler first today, which I haven't had to do before swimming in a long while.

Swimming 30:30 [1] 1.37 km (22:16 / km)
weight:180lbs

Monday-Friday of last week was highlighted by an exercise mental block, er, taper, so, I was determined not to let this week turn into the same. I came back from WP exhausted and with major head congestion and wheezing and coughing, so Monday was a no brainer for a rest day, and Tuesday required a nap instead of exercise as well.

Today, I WOULD swim, but that 30 minutes was a reasonable goal, and so that's what I did.

2 x 400 yards in 8:00 with 1 minute between and then the rest of the time concentrating on pushing off and pulling through the water.

Working on cutting down on the number of diet sodas I am drinking. From 72-96 oz per day down to 48 oz today. Yesterday was only 32 oz, and the afternoon headache was horrible, especially when I coughed.

Mowing/Yard (Mow #2) 10:00 [1]

Did not let the lure of a nap sidetrack me from mowing after work today. Grass was very tall in spots, and with rain tomorrow and weekend plans out of town, today was the day. And, it looks lovely.
