Cracked my helmet...

I am such a tease. :). The rest of the story...

Took my bike with me to Indiana and today was the day for a ride. There is a 6 mile trail which I took out and back. On the way out, I crossed train tracks twice, each time dutifully dismounting through the slow down chicane, noting that one of the crossings could be done on the road instead, avoiding the forced dismount.

So, on the way back, I avoided the chicane, but a car was coming, so I waggled out of the way and then back onto the tracks, and then moved at a weird angle and ended up with my front wheel in the rut and immediately keeled over. On the good news side, I was stopped dead, so I didn't slide, so no road rash. More good news - there was no train coming. Bad news was that I smacked my head so hard that I felt a bit of pain, and the helmet cracked. Good news was that I was wearing a helmet, and I wasn't badly injured. Just some bruising on my butt, side, and knee. Neck stiffen up two days later, but otherwise I am fine, and lesson learned.

Was off a day all day since I was wearing a watch that the date hadn't been reset on after leap day. Kept getting so confused before figuring it out.

Picked up the stuff from my mom's house which was in storage. Nora and I are driving it out to Indiana, leaving on Saturday. Another thing off the list!

Now, if I could only figure out why the estate accounting is 35 cents out of balance.
