Note

Race Timing: EX2 BYB - Fountainhead

Orienteering race (Wheaton Green) 1:00:53 [4] *** 5.3 km (11:29 / km) +180m 9:49 / km
shoes: 8 Orange

Green course at Wheaton Regional Park. Park is riddled with trails, so this was more of a long sprint, or at least that was what I told myself. That, along with the fact that I really didn't want to lose three weeks in a row to the same woman. So, I pushed as hard as I could on tired legs, and I eeked out the "victory."

Bonus - home and unpacked the car by 6 pm, showered, discovered where the pantry moths were procreating (in some old soft taco shells), a glass or three of wine, and just chilling out and viewing the QOC results which the new me has already posted (the same person I so wanted to best today). Life is good. Well, except I need to process the results from the trail race I timed this morning, but that will be a piece of cake.

Actual miles covered today was 4.

Trail Run (C&O Canal from Carderock) 1:09:00 [2] 6.0 mi (11:30 / mi)
shoes: Asics Weebles

A physically tough week at work, as well as a racing mind which doesn't help with the whole sleeping issues. My right hip is painful while sitting, and when I take a deep breath, and my shoulders are very sore. I also smashed my left elbow on a concrete wall when I toppled over backwards while squatting down looking at something near floor level. But, things are getting better organized (I was always pretty organized) as I continue to unearth more records that can be disposed off. I am feeling good enough that, I might end up only working one day next week, otherwise, the school system is closed for spring break.

Needless to say, I was exhausted last night, and I crashed around 6:30. Then, I was awake at 9 PM, followed by bits of sleep until around 5:30 AM, when I slept solidly for a couple of more hours.

I needed to drop some stuff off in Rockville today, so I changed into running clothes with the idea to do two miles on the canal. Then I grabbed my water bottle, so I would have the option of going a little longer, if I felt like it.

It was just so beautiful out when I arrived at the parking lot around 10:45 - around 40 F, with just a little wind. I headed right towards Georgetown, which made the going easier with the downgrade, but I knew it would wish I had gone the other direction when I turned back around, and I did, but it was all good. With the last of the URI holding on, I was a bit short of breath on the little teeny uphills, so I had to throw some little walk breaks in.

531 (partial mile, see below)
1003 (run)
1435 (walk)
1100 (mix)
1130 (mix)
1125 (mix)
451 (the rest of the first partial mile)

I am so happy that I did NOT fritter away the day.
