Orienteering race (Relay Orange) 33:02 [4] *** 2.77 km (11:56 / km) +110m 9:57 / km
shoes: Poison Ice Bugs

Pooped after the 3 races yesterday, though not devastated, so maybe there is hope for me yet... Tried to keep Barb within sight, but she managed to pull away. Navigated well, so I was pleased with my effort. I was on an unofficial team, so the pressure was off.

Ankle turned slightly both days, and it was painful. It was good with taping.

Orienteering race (Sprint A) 34:25 [4] *** 2.22 km (15:30 / km) +51m 13:54 / km
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

So, I basically sucked on this one.

Orienteering race (Sprint B) 24:36 [4] *** 2.33 km (10:33 / km) +52m 9:30 / km
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Tried to stay ahead of Barb who started 1 minute behind me. Caught me around control #8. Damn, she sure looked good running in ahead of me.

Orienteering race (Sprint Final) 26:14 [4] *** 3.15 km (8:20 / km) +33m 7:55 / km
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Trying to catch Bob T and hold off Matt R - met the goal halfway. Times progressively better throughout the 3 sprints, but then the courses were progressively easier as well.

weight:180lbs

I should be able to run my ankle this weekend if I tape it. I woke up in the middle of the night with the left side of my clogged up and a sore throat. Throat is fine this morning, but head still congested. Though my weight is holding steady around 180, I feel like I weight 20 pounds heavier. Agh!!!

But, I am having a better day. :)

Trail Run (Wakefield Park) 11:00 [3] 1.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
(injured) shoes: Saucony Blue 4

Not a good day. I witnessed a confrontation at work today between Roger and this woman who is a terrible bully. I went right from there to my semi-annual doctor's visit. My blood pressure for the nurse was 140/100 for the nurse. I sat down and tried to relax for the doctor. Been seeing her for 20+ years. She took one look at me and asked what was wrong, and I burst out in tears. After a hug, and letting me tell my pathetic story about the office supplies incident, my BP was down to 120/85.

We talked about my elbow and hand pain, and she recommended I see an orthopedist. We'll see.

After reminding me that I was supposed to be losing some weight and watching my sugar intake (oops, I totally forgot about the sugar level thingee), she asked if I was going back to work. Nope, off to a run. She said that was a good idea - man, a run, just what the doctor ordered.

And, though I was still feeling a bit beat up, I went to Wakefield Park to take advantage of the nice soft trails. Running well, and just deciding to slow down and walk a little, when I turned my right ankle to the outside, the opposite way of how I usually do it.

It isn't very swollen, but it is very painful to the touch, and when I bend it just a little bit to the side.

Well, at least the weather is lovely today.

Walking 51:00 [1] 3.3 mi (15:27 / mi)
shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 2

Walked (2.3 there & the last mile back) to the car dealer to pick up a new driver's side mirror. Something cracked my other one... Can't understand why I can't replace the glass part instead of the entire housing. Now the mirror on that side will be black, and the other side is gold. Apparently, if I had a Cadillac instead of a Saturn, I could have replaced just the glass part.

The walk there was somewhat miserable. I kept thinking about the Arizona Ironman shown on VS on Sunday. Not as slick as Hawaii, but I think it was from last weekend, so that fact that it was not a year old was pretty cool. Paula NF kept talking about the bellies of some of the top competitors being extended with gas, or whatever. Then they showed a woman tossing her cookies. That is how I felt today, literally. I think I should have passed on the 12 cookies I ate when I got home. I tried eating my afternoon banana later, at 3 PM, but I still had to have those cookies at 4 PM.

It took about 13 minutes to get my purchase made, and that was enough time for things to settle down.

Running 12:54 [2] 1.3 mi (9:55 / mi)
shoes: Saucony - Big Blue 2

Feeling much better, I ran partway home carrying my new mirror in a bag. This was mostly downhill, then flat except for the part up and over 395.

I am sore in mostly good ways today. Calves are actually very sore, and quads some too, but not in real pain anywhere. Knees held up well.
