Orienteering race (Fork Union Orange) 57:33 [4] *** 4.73 km (12:10 / km) +85m 11:10 / km
slept:8.0 shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Woke up at 1:30 AM after crashing at 7:30 last night. Was awake for a couple of hours, but I was able to sleep for a bit longer.

Dodged the storm out of the DC area by coming down yesterday.

Helped with the epunching for a while, and then ran the Orange course. I didn't feel like visiting the controls from yesterday, and I also wanted to avoid the mile to the start.

Won Orange, and only revisted one control from yesterday from a different direction.

Weather kept the QOC attendance down, but MHS JROTC and 4 USNA mids showed up, and a handful of others.

Roads were wet but clear for the trip home.

It was a great weekend at Fork Union.

O Training (Fork Union) 2:38:00 [3] *** 7.0 mi (22:34 / mi)
shoes: Ice Bugs - Red Storm

Drove down to Fork Union a day early to bring the electronic controls. Also decided to hang 16 of them - forced training, otherwise, I may have slacked off another day.

It was a beautiful, crisp day in the high 20s/low 30s. Had to go fown to short sleeves before I was finished. Dropped off at race a mile into the remote start. Had a little difficulty with the first 3 controls, and then ~25 minute error to 4. Mostly settled down after that. I ran out of time, if I wanted to have lunch in the mess hall, so I skipped the last two and ran the mile in to the Muench's house.

Crashed at 7:30 PM!

Note

Patches of poison ivy, mostly my legs, but also arms, and stomach from this weekend. I knew there was a reason I should have showered right away when I got back to my host home.

Intented to do the HC video workout tonight, but I ended up doing about 90 minutes of work in the yard. We had our fence replaced today - should have postponed it - for the 4th time in a month (none my fault), but I went ahead as scheduled. With the ground soft after the snow melt, they made quite a muddy mess of the lawn in places. I tidied up boards and dirt and stuff which had been displaced.

Anyway, it was enough of a workout, and too late when I was done to HC DVD - a verb. :)

slept:7.0 weight:186lbs (rest day)

Attended a Mardi Gras party at the Ritz last night, so I am a bit behind.

Got the bags unpacked this evening, and just finishing up three loads of laundry for a friend. My laundry was all washed and folded by my GAOC hosts - even the swamp clothes.

Head a bit stuffy the last few nights.

I didn't run tonight becasue I would have gotten my feet wet, what with all the snow melt. ;) Actaully, I am very disappointed that I had no time to get outside this afternoon - it was so beautiful out.

Trying to get the rolling rankings done by Friday.

Note

My pictures from Georgia. The first one was my only AOWN - at the packet pickup on Friday night.

Correction - Mike and ran I into that funky duck/goose thing after the canoeing. And, I guess you could call the visit into the swamp really getting into AOWN!
