Note

having some serious lower back pain- the joint lower, went to physio and got some good massage and cracking. Not allowed to have any anti inflammatory drugs does not help. Hopefully it goes away as fast as it came.

some rest today and some fieldwork done even if it is really difficult timing in this "under the dog weather" (Czech expression).
Also some appointments to do with that little person.

very difficult to fieldwork in this "first of April like weather"

Biked from home to the WET at Cates Park. Took it through the forest, Rice lake, Twin Bridges, Fisherman trail, Riverside to Dollarton HWY and to the park. Some rain and mud on the way. No one in the forest.
Some big downhill parts.

orienteering 22:30 [3] 3.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Memory-O set by Jackie at Cates Park. Fun and for sure not too easy for me. It is pretty weird to run without a map.

I also did a pretty long walk with my friends on a seawall today and one hour of fieldwork at lower lynn. That's all I can fit in one day.

Biked on the road to the Rice Lake entry, locked the bike and biked back up the lovely hill home after the run.

Ran partly around Rice Lake, circuit trail, down to Fisherman's trail following the Seymour to Homestead and up the Homestead (walked). Constant drizzle.

Second run of the day, this time in the evening with Jackie B. and Lucas, the dog she is petsitting. A huge white dog - size of a small horse.
Walked up (too seep to even walk) the little trail behind our house to BP, ran BP, Mountain HWY, got lost between Upper Griffin and Natural High biking trails, took some creek bed and ended up on BP again, went classic loop Headwaters-Rice Lake-Varley, stairs and Mc Nair home.
Enough exercise for today.

studying some bike-O maps.
hm, 14 k, 435 elevation and 1:15000 which might be better than our 1:7500 yesterday, it is coming a bit slower and you can actually process it on the way.

orienteering 1:17:00 [3] 10.0 km (7:42 / km)

Mountain bike orienteering at Watershed Park. Could do it at least ten minutes faster, but got stuck a few times on some small trail mazes and ended up on other trails than I wanted. Helped three groups of cadets. really fun to bike in this park, very challenging to keep up with all these trails and concentrate for the whole course. Have to get a Pro map holder.

No time to make it to the WET tonight on time, so went for a run/jog up first, then BP to Varley trail, Suspension, Rice Lake and back over Headwaters bridge, stairs.
Somehow lack of time lately, but the nice two week long holiday is coming very soon....
Guessing the time, really nice day.

Organizing ski-O on the Cypress Mountain is fun!
Behind the scene:
at 8:30 I get a nice ride on snowmobile to the upper warming hut with all the equipment, on the way I place one control from the snowmobile.
at 9 AM I ski one little loop to place a few controls.
at 9:30 someone from the mountain sets fire in the stove at the hut, so I do not freeze the whole day.
at 10 Am people arrive to do the ski-o
all goes well, not too many people, but everyone is happy.
I take care of the fire, register and download.
at 1:45 I get a ride on snowmobile back down.

ok It could be also sunny, but not bad...

Checking control locations on Cypress for tomorrow's ski-O. Checked all the lower trails and connectors. Very nice day, but very slow snow (or legs ?).

asked Magnus tonight: Do we organize the easy course (ski-o) if we have only one person registered for it?
He tells me:
Yeah, there will be gazillions of people there saying... Oh we suppose to preregister for that? I just heard about it from a relative of my oncle, I did not know...
I don't know why I am laughing so much, but the way he says it...
hope not for gazillions

Also a Grade One boy made up a natural treadmill (running on the spot) and asked me to run with him on his natural treadmill the whole recess.

Mapping in Stanley Park followed by explore run to see what else needs to be updated. From Rose Garden, Beaver Lake to Second Beach and random trails back. Very nice day! Pretty much everyone decided to visit Stanley Park today, also found out where the stable of the Mounted Police is located. Feels like I am getting a cold.

WET at Renfrew ravine by Gar. Fun! Got distracted by David Finch and his boys who followed me to the flag, then sprinted ahead, stopped at the flag and followed me again. Got ahead eventually. Stuck in blackberries only once, otherwise fine. Tried to run, but ran out of energy at the end.

Warm-up with Magnus, from the end of Lynn Valley road to Rice lake and around.

Faster loop (route of My first trail race), Rice Lake, Headwaters, Varley trail, Pipeline, Swimming pool, Suspension and up to the Rice Lake. Did not start at the exact start location, but at the lake.

Skiing - Cross country 40:00 [3]

Short evening skate at Cypress. Mostly enjoying the place and resting after hills, so only 40 min or so of skiing tonight, still worth to come. Very few people, great conditions (some insanely fast youth from Hollyburn skiing club, as Adam W., kind of "just" cruising around in a speed I cannot even develop on skis)
Have no idea about distances lately, because my Gps watch seems to be on holiday in Callaghan Valley.
