Running (trail) 35:00 [2] 3.56 mi (9:50 / mi) +75m 9:14 / mi
shoes: Asics Trail

New trailhead and new trails today. Parked at the end of Broadway, which haven't done before because there's no parking area, unlike the end of Speedway, even though the B'way trailhead is several miles closer. Turns out that it wasn't any faster to get to today because of construction but there's plenty of parking along the road so I needn't worry about that.

Fun, felt pretty good. Probably helps that it was a glorious 70 degrees out (!!!) and the sun was almost down. Got pretty dark by the last few minutes of the run, nice moon shadows and all, and for once I had had the foresight to bring a headlamp! I used it for the last few minutes to make sure that all those rocks along the trail really were rocks and not rattlesnakes.

In O news, I was so very excited to read that there's still a good chance that the 2008 US Trail-O Champs will be right here in Tucson next February.

Actually, I can't complain since I imagine it would bring a few people to the meet who wouldn't otherwise have come, and more people isn't a bad thing when you're so very far from so many people...

Do orienteers in other parts of the country ever show up with a pistol in a holster? Is this normal?

To clarify, do many American orienteers actually orienteer while carrying a gun?
