Orienteering race 1:46:00 [2] 4.0 mi (26:30 / mi)
shoes: Falcon

Baldwin Hill Green. Couple of losses of contact, but generally OK.

Surprised to see Red times/km markedly faster than Green times/km.

Orienteering race 1:20:00 [2] 3.4 mi (23:32 / mi)

Night-O at Pine Bluffs (Aims's house and environs). I did not find #14, having used 2 different attack points. One, not exactly sure where I was, hoping I was at a bend in a little trail (very hard for me to see in the dark); the other, from a very distinct nearby pit that I'd punched on the 1st map. Neither attack point was more than about 30m away from the control. From the pit, I twice found an open forest area inside the denser green forest, but no control. From the bend, I never really found open forest. Grr.

Note

Upon comparing map 2's frustrating attempts to find #14 with map 1's placement of control 3 (depression), from which I attacked, I realized that I made a parallel error. I thought the flagged pit was the one between the wider trail's forked end. Instead, it was a similar pit to the east. Both pits were roughly SW of open forest areas within medium green. So I was flailing around inside the wrong open area. Doh.

Reservoir loop. Found the culvert repair complete (hooray), but there was new construction a couple of blocks from home forcing an unplanned detour.
