Running warm up/down 12:00 [1] 1.8 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Orienteering long 1:44:56 [3] *** 12.1 km (8:40 / km) +695m 6:44 / km

Yet another great race by GHO. Had made my way to 5th place by control #11. Didn't have enough left in me to keep it up on the second map.

All in all a remarkably clean race. No more then 1:30 of error from three small mistakes at different points in the race. My favourite part of the whole course was between controls four and seven. These are the woods you dream about in the winter.WinsplitsRouteGadget

Running warm up/down 30:00 [1] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Steady running and Sprints. 15 min before both Sprint and Middle.

Orienteering (Sprint) 15:57 [3] *** 2.2 km (7:15 / km) +130m 5:36 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

A great race! Sprints are such volatile races, I just tried to run fast and clean. I didn't pick all the right route choices, I just lost the least amount of time among all the runners.WinsplitsRouteGadget

Orienteering (Middle) 32:24 [3] **** 4.7 km (6:54 / km) +250m 5:27 / km
shoes: La Sportiva Crosslite

Second race of the day. Was worried I would be tired and slow, especially on the hills. As soon as I saw the first leg I knew this course was gonna be good. Started out a bit slow, had lost 50 seconds to Robbie by control #4. As the race progressed I started to gain energy. When I emerged into the arena I heard the Nev-Monster announce I had taken the lead! My legs were born anew. As one of the last starters I knew I had a shot at the Gold. When I picked up the second map I was relieved to see a shortish loop with comfortably technical legs. The splits on this last section speak for themselves.WinsplitsRouteGadget

This race goes down in the records as my new PB. A huge confidence booster in both my technical and physical abilities.

Mock warm up as the coach ordered. Nice way to start the weekend. Much better then doing nothing.

Fun training in the rain with the boys. Based on my splits and the soreness of my legs the next day I could probably run slightly faster paces.
