orienteering 1:44:30 [3] 12.1 km (8:38 / km)
shoes: inov8-12

NAOC Long. Ok race, but didn't have the magic of the day before. Ran the first half pretty well, but struggled a bit on the second half. Found it really hard to read the detail in the south end (particularly the trails) and also didn't have any zip to pick it up on the trails. Slow to #1, 1.5 min mistake at #6 (veered left, lost contact and relocated just beyond the control), 30 s at #16, 2 min at #22 (overshot and relocated on the trail just beyond). 15th overall, 8th North American. Rassmus Andersson was the class of the field again in 74:48, Robbie Anderson top NA in a very solid 88:39.

run 20:00 [3] 2.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: inov8-12

Warm up.

orienteering 37:10 [3] 4.9 km (7:35 / km)
shoes: inov8-12

NAOC Middle at Carp Ridge. 1st North American!!!! Decent race, but I wouldn't call it perfect by any means. Lost about 20 s at #1, 15 s at #5, 30 s at #13, 20 s at #19. But, had a a couple of great legs, notably the long legs to 8 and 12, where I made up quite a bit of time and place. Overall, great to avoid any major mistakes in tough terrain. Ran the early part on my own, caught Forest at #8, then Robbie at #13 (though I think we leap-frogged him on the way to #12). We three were together (off and on) until 19, which I bobbled and Robbie got away. Was really pleased to be top North American, but 8th overall and we were all miles behind Rassmus Andersson who crushed it in 28:17!

run 25:00 [3] 3.0 km (8:20 / km)
shoes: inov8-12

Warm-up. 1.8 km run to start, then some time on the warm-up map.

Note

1st North American .... means a personal spot in the Middle final at WOC 2015. Yikes, that's a shock! What do do? Well, pretty hard to say no and let the spot go unused (not transferable I presume). So, Scotland, here I come! Time to put a little focus on the training. Lots of general training the last few years, but little focus and attention to the details. More running, more forest running, more speed and more intervals .... lots to work on!

orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 4.0 km (15:00 / km)
shoes: inov8-12

Model map for NAOC. First on my own, then went out with Trond. Mostly Ok, but floundered in the green a while at one point, so need to pay more attention this afternoon.

Note, really great resource for NAOC results on PG's log here ...

Roller skiing at Carlin. Nice skiing, been a while since we were out that way. DP'd on Notch Hill Rd at the end. Not great pavement quality out there.
