A spin around my winter series course to check the flags, as I am expecting a customer tomorrow. All in order. Snow is receding, about 50% cover, and that only an inch or less. No impediment to travel. Studded o-shoes are perfect. One fall, pretty hard. I don't fall much, given that I am pretty careful where I put my feet and going pretty slowly anyway. This was the most typical fall for me, one of those where my toe catches the near end of a stick and the other end sticks in the ground, so that as I proceed forward my leg is levered up and I slam forward.

Brown course at Coop’s Sawmill. Nice time in the woods followed by an enjoyable catch up with Clint, J-J, Nancy and Peter, and a surprising encounter with the wealthy N out in the woods.

As for the course, a better outing than the other day. Still glacially slow, and running out of legs on the run into the finish, but that's just the right time to do it. Only error was drifting too low on the way to 5 and mis-reading the trail bend on the switchback trail as I crossed it. But if I weren't getting tired, I would have realized I needed to be higher on the hillside. The control is not that far down off the top and I was down quite a ways.

Forced nap on the couch, maybe a combination of vaccine reaction, orienteering and sitting around after in the cold, but couldn’t keep myself eyes open once I was home. Got a call from my friend Simona at around 3:45, or who knows when I would have woken up.

I had the intention to go for a sub 22, but somewhere around 1800 into it I lost the will and dropped back the pace a bit. Still my fastest time during this stretch of 5K pieces. 13 down, 12 to go.

Coop Sawmill Green. Nice woods, virtually no snow except near the marsh on the way to 7, and that wasn't much. Legs had no oomph at all. Couple of mistakes at 3 and 4, but generally ok up through 8, then heading up the hill my back started to hurt a lot and I lost all concentration, crossed a trail I was looking for and ended up way off to the N, so I gave up on going for 9 and just tried to get out of there. Just didn't go well, but eventually got out to the road. Pretty beat.
