For anyone who was wondering why Erik was not orienteering in Buffalo this weekend, here are Erik and Katie before the prom.

Orienteering 59:51 [4] *** 6.2 km (9:39 / km) +135m 8:42 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Long Distance race at Sprague Park, Buffalo A-meet. Generally a pretty successful run, and kept my nose to the grindstone toward the end in hopes of being under an hour. Only one bad leg - no trouble finding the control, but not the best route and poorly executed - lots of climbing over weird stuff early instead of finding the trail route, and then missed the trail run at the end. Last 4 or five controls a track meet along the road/cleared areas.

Orienteering race 44:38 [4] *** 3.3 km (13:32 / km) +125m 11:22 / km
spiked:10/16c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Hunters Creek Park - middle distance course at Buffalo A-meet. Got really confused by the map and the area, leading to lots of mistakes

Orienteering race 14:12 [5] *** 2.2 km (6:27 / km) +35m 5:59 / km
spiked:14/14c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Sprint at Emery Park, Buffalo A-meet. Wicked fast race, and really enjoyed it, although I felt like I was running in wet cement. Some pretty fast times were posted. Technically, this was probably the easiest sprint I have been in, but lots of fun.

Note

First golf outing of the season, 9 holes at Rockledge with some friends. Good that I didn't arrive early enough to hit practice balls, as I would have left my game there. A fair amount of discomfort in both my left shoulder and my right forearm (a pretty bad case of tennis elbow the last 6 weeks), and several sideways shots in the first two holes, but then settled down and played reasonably well. Shots were about 2 clubs shorter - not surprising. Still had a birdie and a couple of pars, so a success, and home to the ice pack.
