Orienteering 1:48:24 [3] 5.6 km (19:21 / km) +200m 16:25 / km

Green Day 2 at Boggs Mt. Had extreme difficulty finding the first two controls, both in rather vague areas, and both I went close to several times, but lost about 1/2 hr between them. After that things were better, if not great. Still, very nice courses, the weather broke and was clear, and it was a fine time in a very nice place.

Middle Green course at Boggs Mt meet. Very rainy and muddy. Downhills were treacherous, uphills only negotiable by holding onto things. Not much I could run. One significant error on first, where I stopped part way down at the Blue control to try to figure out where I was, finally seeing patch of green further downhill that led me in. Otherwise very good navigation, hitting all the rest right on and right where I was expecting them.

Team Trials sprint at Spring Lake. Many mistakes, culminating in mispunching at #11. So what was wrong? Over-running several, standing around next to a few and not seeing them, and a clue sheet that turned to papier mache in the rain. Didn't realize clues were on the map, too, but I hate unfolding the map and looking for them anyway. How did I miss #11? Clue was lone tree, and the one I punched was also by a lone tree, a little further on and much more obvious. I was checking codes up until then, but my clue sheet was useless by that point. Just a ball of mush. And certainly I would have been flummoxed by #12 if I hadn't been a late starter and heard all the stories of people running by it to punch the white control further on.

Tomorrow I will bring tape to the start to protect my clue sheet.

very easy around Annadel State Park - up Channel to N. Burma to Live Oak down to the dam at Lake Ilsanjo, and back via Rough Go, Orchard and Cobblestone. Erik ran his own much longer route and arrived back about the same time.

part of Rhonda's class and part of the shoulder series when the class got too difficult. She was in a series of side plank related stuff and it is still way too difficult for me to support myself on my left arm, so a good time to migrate into my general shoulder exercises.

More or less half of my shoulder series, with Rhonda in attendance on the spinning bike. Kind of warm in the gym, and it was getting to be time to go on to other things, so let it go.

Hike 2:00:00 [3]

Probably longer than this, and some hiking, some running and some standing around. With Rhonda and the dogs, first down to the Big Down Marsh and beyond, and then a separate trip over to Breezy Hill to check on the land trust timber harvest.

cycling 41:00 [3] 8.6 mi (4:46 / mi)

With Rhonda around the river loop in Pleasant Valley. Kind of hot, and we're both a little tired from yesterday, so just a slow easy loop.

Note

AOWN. Went down to check the little pond this morning and found huge masses of eggs along the shoreline, so set about returning them to the water. Seemed like they were still pretty cool and moist, so I'm hoping they will survive.

With Rhonda, from Pleasant Valley up Sandy Brook until it seemed like a good idea to turn back. Legs a little wobbly on the last stretch, and bottom a bit tender. First ride of the season (second for Rhonda, who went on Saturday).
