Note

Thought folks might like to see what Mr. Zack has been up to. The video was a school project with his friends Drew and Sam. Zack is in it starting at about 1:25:

Orienteering race 1:36:11 [3] *** 6.9 mi (13:56 / mi) +235m 12:36 / mi
spiked:15/15c weight:163lbs shoes: NB MT840

Sessions Woods Red course. Probably my best general navigation in a really long time. One small bobble at #2, where Jim had two control circles, and I hadn't picked up that the southern one was the one to go for, so I hung around the cliff for a bit before deciding to go S to the pit. Also lost my SI stick between 2 and 3 and spent about a minute or so looking for it before deciding just to go on and punch on the map. And not the best route to #6. Trail to the corner and then across the small marsh and stream would have been fine, but instead I went NW to the top of the marsh and then N along the hill top. Otherwise fine.

Orienteering 25:00 [3]

Looking for my SI stick after the race. Didn't really expect to find it.

Orienteering 45:00 [1] 4.0 km (11:15 / km)

Setting out controls and then running a sweep operation for the O-meet at Ratlum this afternoon. approximately 110 people in attendance, and a perfect record of getting them all back again. This was for the Land Trust's trailblazers club.

Gym 21:54 [5]
weight:162.5lbs

Filthy fifty - 50 reps each of 8 exercises. Close to the workout of the day, which was for 10 exercises, but enough is enough. This is the workout that leaves me having bouts of shortness of breath for a couple of hours after. Also wobbly legs and forearms.

Running 26:42 [3] 2.8 mi (9:32 / mi)

Art Sweeton loop. Felt sluggish, but time was a little better than Wednesday.

Gym 20:00 [4]
weight:162.5lbs

wandered out to the gym with the girls this morning and did a light duty version of what is otherwise a pretty tough workout. 30 reps each of 7 exercises. The normal routine is 50 reps x 8 exercises, but I left out box jumping because of lingering concern about my R foot and achilles tendon. Nice thing about the 30s is that I could do the exercises mostly unbroken, whereas I have to stop most of them and rest between to get 50 reps. And a little time on the spinning bike.

Note

My new testzone approved fell running shoes were an unqualified success this weekend at the Hollis O-ringen. Feet didn't hurt at all during the race or immediately after, and the shoes performed well for me in the forest.

Hike 1:00:00 [2] 4.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

down to the farm and back with R and H.
