Orienteering 7:22:48 [3] 47.5 km (9:19 / km) +750m 8:38 / km

Most excellent Valley Forge marathon. Distance based on Clint's GPS reading. Not much route choice, so I assume we were similar. Ran (or walked mostly) the whole race with Rhonda. Great fun, but I was pretty badly cramped the whole second half. Rhonda was fine, except for substantial chafing which will keep her out of sports bras for a few days, I'm sure.

AOWN: Huge number of deer. Like ants at a picnic, and including one rather inquisitive one between 48 and 49 who actually approached us within about ten yards before turning away. And one rather ominous looking vulture circling over us as we hiked up through the field on my way to #20. Sizing me up.

Ski 45:00 [3]
weight:167lbs

16" of pleasant fluffy stuff. Nice little excursion in the backyard, including a traverse of the new path Zack and I made through the laurel this summer. I can see where it will need some improvement to be pleasant for skiing. Widen out a few places where the downhills are a little steep. With Rhonda and Hazel. Hazel might have done better on skis. On foot she got iced up between the toes.

Not running, because my knee is questionable and I'm trying to jolly it for the weekend. Had a couple of hours of pleasant laurel wrangling during the early part of the storm, killing a bunch of green ink below the big rock. Then off to put the chains on the truck tires and go out plowing. Plenty of snow - maybe 15" by evening. Rescued a few maidens in distress in the neighborhood, plowing them out of the mischief they had found themselves in. The chains are great. I would definitely have been slipping in this stuff without them. And then a bit of shoveling to clear out a path to the hot tub.

Gym 1:10:00 [3]
weight:168.5lbs

Rhonda's morning class, well attended today despite the icy travel conditions. Marathon training in NC last weekend perhaps hasn't gone so well, as my g seems to have ballooned, and I am nursing a very tender knee. Lots of vitamin I and ice before Saturday.

Running 1:57:00 [3] 10.0 mi (11:42 / mi)

More NC marathon training. From the Folk Art Center in Asheville S along the Blue Ridge parkway trail. Started in a drizzle, but it stopped after a bit. 1:02 out, 55 minutes back. AOWN: after crossing the river and the railroad tracks and under the tunnel below I-240 came to a big fence with a reindeer on the other side. I believe he was inside and I was out, but he may have had a different opinion. On the way back saw two dog walkers with a total of three dogs.
