cycling 1:26:21 [3] 21.24 mi (4:04 / mi)

From Pleasant Valley out to Route 8 to Sandisfield sign and back. Sore foot, felt slow, otherwise ok.

Orienteering race (Sprint) 29:24 [5] *** 3.05 km (9:38 / km)
spiked:7/11c

Forest Park Sprint 1. Pretty hot. Several mistakes, but not too bad.

Orienteering race (Sprint) 42:02 [4] *** 3.47 km (12:07 / km)
spiked:6/13c weight:162lbs

Forest Park Sprint 2. #1 took alot out of me. Much slower and poorer route choice/navigation this race. And quite tired at the end.

Note

Yard work - mowed the grass before the o-meet, moved a bunch of rocks and a dead tree with the tractor after. Pretty tired.
Weight was after the o-meet. No wonder I felt depleted. Unfortunately, no real prospects of that weight for real any time soon.

Rowing Machine 22:18 [3] 5.0 km (4:28 / km)
slept:6.0 weight:168lbs

First time on the rowing machine in a really long time, and certainly could tell. Today I really thought I would get a bike ride in, but conference calls and a lengthy jousting session in Hartford with the actuary for the state insurance department left me out in the rain, so I opted for an indoor workout, rather than none at all.

Note

Golf with the boys, after dusting off my insurance company gig at 4:30. The usual mixture of elation and frustration. Today there were the booming drives, off and on, but not much else cheery. Two pars, but both from missed but highly makable birdie putts, and a 49 at the end of it all.

Hike 38:00 [3]

Started out to jog this morning from my hotel in Orlando, but quickly decided a brisk walk was more in my interest. Just really tired legs, feeling a little out of it. Kind of a seedy looking town, I'd say. I did see a bunch of folks engaged in what appeared to be "boot camp". Made me think of Valerie.

Gym 35:00 [3]
slept:6.0 weight:168lbs

Rhonda's morning circuit group. 3 tough girls at 6am. Kathleen Magna, Sue Warner, Jan Tanner.

Running (Trail run) 30:00 [3] 2.7 mi (11:07 / mi)

Art Sweeton loop with the girls after the circuit session. Legs a little logy. Actually behind the girls because I went back to get Hazel, and they didn't wait for me.

Running 25:00 [3] 2.6 mi (9:37 / mi)

Short trot around Orlando. Dreary little burg.

Running (woods run, mostly) 45:00 [3] 3.25 mi (13:51 / mi)

Planned on a bike ride today, but it kept getting later and the phone kept ringing. Decided to go investigate to see if I could find clues as to who had rammed my gate. Some wayward attack badger drove a pickup into it pretty darned hard, especially considering there;s no straightaway. Bent the gate probably beyond reasonable repair and loosened the gateposts, which were in four feet of rock and crushed stone. Anyway, followed the tire tracks out to the devil's elbow, but I'm no smarter now than before. Then headed down Robin Dr Barkhamsted to the log landing from the land trust cut in '99. Went through a good patch of killer raspberries before finding a trail, then around the clear cut - now 20' high, and down below Tom's house through some barberry that made Macedonia Brook look benign. Back up Doyle Rd and home. Route.

Got a cortisone injection in my wrist today. It's been nagging me since at least last fall, maybe last summer. Started up when I was wrasslin' rocks to build the bridge. X-ray revealed a bone spur. We'll see.
