Orienteering 1:03:14 [3] 6.35 km (9:57 / km)
weight:166.5lbs

Green X course at Mashamoquet on way back from Providence. Started at 6:30 so the last bit was in the dark. You'd think that knowing where they all were would give me an advantage, and maybe it did, but slower than all you fast guys by quite a bit. Bobbled several, including 3 (maybe 15 sec, off to the R), 4 (drifted left to big reentrant before correcting), 5 (lost concentration and started wandering among the cliffs), 8 (drifted low to look at a likely looking cliff), 13 (definitely dark now - stumbled on the wrong wall and had to correct - maybe 25 sec). Fun anyway, and gives me an appreciation of how fast all the rest of you are.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]

Cruising around the northern half of the map, checking controls before the meet started

Orienteering (control hanging) 3:00:00 [2]

Hanging controls, schlepping water at Mashamoquet. Nasty, sleety day. Good company (J-J).

Swim 30:00 [3] 0.55 mi (54:33 / mi)
slept:7.75 weight:167lbs

At Westminster. Felt a little better today. My neck didn't start acting up until about 500 meters into it. Arms felt weak (unsurprisingly) but overall it was pretty fine.

Swim 28:00 [3] 0.5 mi (55:59 / mi)

Well this was a first in quite a while. Went over to the new pool at Westminster School with Rhonda. Beautiful pool. Quite the nicest one I've been in. Pretty challenging to swim, especially for my neck. Had to be a little gingerly with it.

Running (trail run) 26:50 [3] 2.7 mi (9:56 / mi)
slept:7.0 weight:166.5lbs

Art Sweeton loop, with Hazel. Hazel's habit on these runs is that just before we hit the bridge on the way back she picks up a stick to take home. Today, she got a pretty big one - at least 30" long and rather stout. When we got to the gate, she went around to the right, as is our habit. The opening between the gatepost and the nearby tree is smaller than her stick, though, and she clunked right into it. So, she stopped and surveyed the situation, and then crashed into it again. A moment to think it over, and then clunk, again. I encouraged her to go around the outside of the tree, but she wouldn't have any of it. It's not where she's used to going. Finally, she dropped the stick and re-gripped it at something of an angle, and was able to go through the gate. Then she made this strange growling noise the rest of the way home, because she didn't have a very well centered grip on this rather heavy stick.

Gym 55:00 [1]

Mary Ellen's morning class. Pretty mellow. Lots of stretchy stuff with Therabands.

Running (trail run) 26:40 [3] 2.7 mi (9:53 / mi)

Around Art Sweeton loop with Hazel, late in the day. Feeling a bit frazzled with 4 jobs I need to make significant progress in the next day or so, only to return to a call (at 6:45) from an anguished attorney needing some immediate help. Yikes!
