Orienteering race 1:29:56 [5] *** 6.5 km (13:50 / km)
spiked:8/16c shoes: integrators

US Champs at Dutchman Flat, Green Day 1. Beautiful day, nice forest, running well. But . . . I only made one mistake, but I made it about 10 times! Somehow I hadn;'t gotten my head around pacing at 1:10000, and was overshooting everything by 50%. OK when I hit a big feature (if confusing), but not OK in the more vague areas. I finally figured it out when I switched to the 1:5000 section at number 12, and realized that hey, the rest of this had been at 1:10000! Probably a good 25-30 minutes of errors.

Orienteering 42:00 [1] 2.4 km (17:30 / km)

Walking around the model event at Dutchman's Flat. Nice area, well mapped. Not much energy - would not have liked to be running. Lucky for me I got a ride to and from the start, and avoided the 1K or so hike in each direction.

Hike 1:00:00 [1] 2.2 mi (27:16 / mi) +200m 21:16 / mi

At Crater Lake with Kathy - down to the boat dock for the ride around the lake, and then back up again.

trail run 1:05:00 [3] 5.5 mi (11:49 / mi)

On the trails at Annadel SP. Early morning, kind of foggy. Beautiful park, beautiful views. Lots of quarrying activity in the past there, which was kind of interesting. Carried the park map, which was helpful, although an O map would have been much cooler. Got a little confused on some unmapped side trails.

Hike 2:00:00 [1] 4.5 mi (26:40 / mi)

With Kathy at Spring Lake and Annadel Parks in Santa Rosa. Including a circuit of the parcourse at Spring Lake. That stuff is way harder than it used to be! Especially vaulting.

Hike 1:16:30 [2] 5.7 mi (13:25 / mi)

E River Rd, Pleasant Valley with Rhonda. Rhonda is a killer walker, and determined to be at all times a half-stride ahead.

Hike 1:28:00 [2] 5.0 mi (17:36 / mi)

Parked a car at Northern trail head of tunxis trail on Ratlum Rd, hiked S on trail to Doyle Rd then up Doyle to the house. Family outing with Zack, Rhonda, Jess and Hazel.

Orienteering 2:40:00 [3] *** 6.0 km (26:40 / km)
spiked:6/6c shoes: integrators

Control pickup at Great Mtn Rogaine. Parked near W2 waterstop and picked up 24, 26, 65, 35, 47 and 78. 65, 35, 47 was a loop I had thought would be a good addition to the loop Bob and I did yesterday. Very easy navigation (good night controls), but a lot of climb. Best to use the switchbacks rather than cut the corners.
