Testing out the knee on some trails. Before I started I had a thought. I tested it out and it went pretty well.

Before the knee injury I was pretty aggressively increasing my milage. My thought was that this was leading up to an overuse injury, and while I was climbing it hit its breaking point. I suspect that it is a more sever form of runners knee, which I had back in high school on the same knee. Before the run, and a few points in the middle I used trigger points and leg lifts to activate my vastus medialis.

This seemed to work pretty well. It reduced the pain while running and there was no additional swelling at the end. I am still unsure why there was so much swelling when I initially got the injury. Nothing like that happened when I had runners knee in high school.

First real exercise I have done since I hurt my knee. Trying to test it out now to see if I can start training again. After I was done swimming my knee was fine. The swelling didn't increase, but my knee was a little stiff while doing breaststroke. Tomorrow I will try to go for a short jog on soft trails.
