Screwed up the very first control. I just started running and skipped out on the whole read your map bit and after crossing one spur, I was sure I had crossed three. It's stuff like that which will cause problems. After that, though, I was moving pretty well. Minus the prickers... since I had no shin covering, thanks to my socks having disappeared mysteriously, the smallest branch grazing my leg resulted in a great deal of discomfort. For the most part I tried to just grit my teeth and run through, but you can only grit so hard...
