Well, we forgot the maps, so our sunday training turned into a trail run. Ethan and I took off and just kinda wandered through the forests of vermont. We found a series of questions involving a name, a mission, and a color or the occasional "what is the airspeed velocity of an unladed swallow", was quite entertaining.

Screwed up the very first control. I just started running and skipped out on the whole read your map bit and after crossing one spur, I was sure I had crossed three. It's stuff like that which will cause problems. After that, though, I was moving pretty well. Minus the prickers... since I had no shin covering, thanks to my socks having disappeared mysteriously, the smallest branch grazing my leg resulted in a great deal of discomfort. For the most part I tried to just grit my teeth and run through, but you can only grit so hard...

I didn't think I was going to be able to run because of my foot, but I did so just fine. I think it's largely due to the fact that I wore my Asics instead of my inov-8s which lack support.

First catamount run. Went alright except for a section which is really steep dips. Those killed me and I just slowed down a lot after that. After I finished, my foot was bothering me quite a bit. Tomorrow will definitely be a rest day.

Pretty good race. First 2 controls were a little shaky, but then I started to get into the map and everything started working well. Technique wasn't too great, though. Mostly running straight then relocating. The woods were a little slow for me to get moving fast or to navigate the way I would have liked.

Blehh race. Lost almost 9 minutes on 2 which is a rough way to start out a race. Took me a while to get back into the map, but once I did, I was running great.
