Coach's training. The workout was a three way compromise between my dad, Coach Jeff, and Alexi (crazy russian...). My dad wanted me to run intervals and Jeff wanted me to run at my threshold pace. I ended up doing 900m (don't ask why) intervals at 6:30 pace with 30 seconds in between. That satisfied my dad and Jeff. For Alexi, I stared (read) my map a few times during each interval.

5) 3:33
6) 3:30
So i definately slowed down... It was hard, though. Harder than I expected. It also happened to be pouring. Ok, it wasn't that bad, but certainly wet. I'm not sure if that helped or hindered, though...
As far as the map reading goes, I felt I was reading the map well. I tested myself by moving the map around. I was still able to get general details (hills, large spurs and reentrants, water features, trails, etc.) but nothing specific unless I slowed my pace down a little bit.
