orienteering race (NOY2) 1:28:00 [3] *** 3.05 km (28:51 / km) +50m 26:40 / km
weight:76.5kg shoes: HH2+poles

Is wet? is Wallaroo!
not true every time, but was for the first half of this morning - rain stopped just as we arrived at the assembly area, and remained dry for the rest of the competition time - much appreciated by late starters

NOY2 at Balickera Quarry - Short Moderate course. Completed the course today, unlike NOY1 - no great navigational challenges, but route choice still played a part in the choice between the longer track option and cross-country though sometimes "clingy" groundcover and longish grass. Really enjoyed being out in the forest,; soft even light, still and quiet apart from the occasional footsteps of a passing runner ( I did manage to tune out the distant hum of the highway most of the time)

walking warm up/down 12:00 [1] 0.3 km (40:00 / km)

5k parkrun race (callaghan) 1:00:11 [4] 5.03 km (11:58 / km) +60m 11:17 / km
weight:76.5kg shoes: armcrutches

bummer! - missed breaking the hour target by THAT much - 29:35 to turn-around but 30:36 for return. - still a PB for the course by 5 minutes.

stopped for 2 quick drinks but needed them, so can't blame the drink stops - probably slowed down going up Engineering hill on way out but a bit too steep to go faster to make up time on way back ( and I was getting tired)

first time I have done a course entirely on my own - was last & by myself before I left the fire pit area at the start, so no distractions and able to concentrate on footing on hte rougher bits of path.

cartography (StPhilips) 1:00 [3] ***

prepared and sent final drafts of 1:1500 and 1:4000 maps
5 PM

walking (Henryst/GolfCourse) 33:00 [1] 1.7 km (19:25 / km) +20m 18:20 / km
weight:76.5kg shoes: hikingpoles

sunset walk - along Henry to cul-de-sac & then down to golf course along easement - chose the overgrown branch of the track (won't do that next time)
& home along 4th 5th & 6th fairways.

sights for the day:
1/ social golfers giving their mate heaps when he over-hit his long put, putted off the 15th green, down the hill, and needed a serious chip back ( he did miss the bunker ) - there was a mention of the "Big Easy award" for the day
2/ a black rabbit, small but perfectly formed, trying to hide behind a very small clump of grass at the edge of the fairway, at the same time as it was chomping away on the same clump of grass - a runaway pet not long for this big bad world, I suspect.
