NSW Middle champs at Snow Hills. Unfortunately I left my brain in Newcastle because that was probably the worst I've ever navigated. Lost time on 4 (vegetation mapping seemed weird), then missed 6 a bit. Couldn't make sense of the shallow gully at 7. Lost contact near 8 and lost a few mins. Too low to 9, then absolutely lost the plot at 10. Would have lost 4-5 mins. Then stupid route to 11 meant I lost contact and would have lost 6-7 mins there!! And then I somehow poorly executed 12 and 13 and lost more time! The rest of the course was ok but my confidence was well shattered so I went very cautiously. Hopefully I can redeem myself tomorrow!

Edit. Splits say I lost 15:03 in mistakes :(

Hills at King Edward. Was a good time. Haven't felt the burn in the glutes like that for far too long!

Ran up the Loaf from Westy. Straight up the spur at O'Donnelltown so a bit shorter than past run ups but steeper and rougher. Legs like jelly at the top. Coming down not so good on the legs, went a longer way back through the middle of O'Donnelltown instead. Distance a guess cos I forgot to charge my watch. But 21:25 for the climb I think.

Easter Day 3. Ran a lot better today physically but made some silly mistakes. Lost some time on my route to 2 and Todd caught me 2 mins. The next few controls were good and I got away. But at 5 I was legit metres from the control but convinced myself it didn't look right and lost a good 90 secs, allowing Todd to catch back up. Then lost a bit more time at 10 getting stuck in the wrong gully. Good from there but another 2 mins quicker would have been better!!

So going forward from here, I need to establish a good routine outside of work for my training. I'd like to be a bit more competitive in elites by Aus Champs.

Easter Day 2 at The Murdering Shed. Early starter today. Pretty good early on. Leon caught me 4 mins at 6, we had different route choices to 7 but got there together and we're catching Robbie who'd started 2 mins before. For the next few I wasn't quite with Leon and Robbie but could see them until 10 which I missed slightly. Started to tire going to 13 and was disappointed to find that my next drink and gel wouldn't come for another 2km or so at 15. Hit the wall big time climbing to 14 and couldn't really recover afterwards, walking large sections of the remainder of the course. Haven't felt so exhausted for a while. Extremely happy to make the finish. Knew I'd struggle in a long but I guess I went out too hard!
