Ints at Glendale. Was running late so missed some warm up and we did a shortened warm down. Did 5 x 800m, the first 3 were on a 4:30 cycle, then the last 2 on a 5 min cycle. We all felt rubbish this week, times were 2:27, 2:31, 2:34, 2:35, 2:40

Orienteering race 37:07 [5] 5.7 km (6:31 / km)
shoes: Dads Inov8 x-talon 190

QB3 day 3, Sappa Bulga, middle distance. Had a pretty good run, got into the map pretty well and ran hard. Dropped a minute on number 2, missing the control in the low vis green but there wasn't any other significant time losses elsewhere. Shep got me by 37 secs, so closest I've been all weekend.

QB3 day 2, Sappa Bulga. Nice long course set by Josh. Went out 20 mins before 1st starts to wake up controls, but they were all awake when I got to them. So had a nice run by myself, which meant I probably didn't push so hard in places but oh well. Started a bit cautiously just getting into the map, but got the controls well and had the fastest split on the long leg to 3, which I went left on up through the watercourse. Fine up until 9, although still a bit cautious, my splits were a little down on Shep and Andrew Barnett through here. Lost nearly 3 mins on 10, couldn't tell which rock I wanted on a hill where everything looked the same. Had to relocate and found that I'd been standing on the other side of the rock I wanted all along. Left on the long leg to 11 which was fast, then a quick gel and drink at the control. Pretty slow to 12, I went straightish up through the watercourse into the more complex area and picked my way slowly through there, then missed the control a little bit. Quickest through 14 and 15, but overran 16 and lost another minute or so. Quickest again to 17, but lost more time at 18 seeing the control but thinking it wasn't mine as it looked to be between 2 rocks, and I was looking for bare rock. Checked it out eventually and it was bare rock all along but looked different from my direction, annoying. Reasonably good from here to finish.

So in summary, I was running well but silly errors cost me too much time. 75 was potentially doable today. Shep did 77, Barnett did 83.
