x country at caves beach, really tough course. lots of steep hills, and the trails were either really rough and rocky, or sandy. forgot my garmin so time is a guess for now, may have been quicker. wasn't feeling the best beforehand but started out ok. it was handicap which i hate. was trying to chase down the guy 50secs in front whilst seeing how long i could hold off stu 50 secs behind. first hill was hard work and my legs were sore from yesterday. second hill before the turnaround was a killer and had a small walk here. 3rd hill on the way back was where stu got me, around 6.5kms in, and again a small walk. quick 10 sec drink at the 7.5km drink station and then smashed out the last part. hard to tell how you've placed in handicap events but i think i had the second fastest time about 90 secs behind stu

run at uni after my exam. bit of a warm up around campus then down to the ovals near the station for some short sprints. tried my short ints but struggled to get them the same as normal. tried a different approach of sprinting to the other end of the oval and turning around and coming back in one int, which was good. ended up being around 190m per int, got me lactic. only downside is foot was a little sore, but i'll be watching that carefully this week

easy day today, just cruised to meet up with a mate for a kick of the footy. couple of surges on the way home, legs were fairly tired though. nothing really long scheduled for this week though so it should be ok

went out to bobs farm, for my second venture into sand dunes, ever. knew it was going to be thick and tough going, but had set myself a pretty long course to tackle. got out there and discovered the undergrowth was so dense that i pretty much couldn't break into a run, ever. ok so i did get a slow run going in a few places but it was mainly thrashing my way through whilst trying to keep map contact, as there was nothing at the controls to let me know when i was there. got through a couple of legs pretty well, simplified nicely but i had plenty of time to think about stuff. after only going 1.5km in 30 mins i got over it and ran on the tracks instead, which was tough cos they were sandy. tried to keep map contact and interpret the terrain around me as i went, which was actually pretty hard. was even better when i found some new tracks and ran on them trying to keep contact with where i was in terrain. went out into the sand dunes proper for a bit, that was cool. wanted to see the ocean, only had to go a few hundred metres over the next dune and there it was. bailed after this as i have study to do. not the session i was hoping for but good to get out with a map in my hand at least.
