Orienteering race 1:24:56 [5] **** 9.1 km (9:20 / km) +440m 7:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 x talon 212

Oceania long. started well, was a little slower mid course where i was hesitant but had a decent long leg coming back, even though i lost contact and luckily relocated mid leg right where i wanted to be. but the last shorter controls were not great, made 2 mistakes and was slower. looking at splits was in a decent position after the 2nd long leg but then lost a lot between there and finish. still was surprised to come 7th, only 12 secs behind 5th, but a long way off the top 4 and the winner

Orienteering race 33:26 [5] ** 7.0 km (4:47 / km)
shoes: Nike Free Run+

Oing at botanical gardens. ran and navigated well except from 6 to 7 where i missed a track, spent time doing up my shoelace then ran down a path that didn't join then changed my mind and pretty much ran back to where i started. re did this leg later on and found that i'd lost a solid minute and a half there. on the plus side i was determined to push hard out in the back tracks to make up for it and was running well. although i didn't realise how much more there was on the second map so i was a bit tired through there. good fun though, got wet but oh well
distance a guess at this point

Orienteering race 24:09 [4] ** 4.5 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Nike Free Run+

went a little less harder around the short course. relaxed a bit too much and found myself making small mistakes early on though. rain had stopped and was pleasant running
