Event: WCOC Sessions Woods
 

Sessions Woods, Burlington, CT. Orange course (leftover map from 2002 A-meet). Took along my brother David and introduced him to the sport of orienteering. He's got a great sense of direction and is comfortable being in the woods. He said it brought back Boy Scout memories.

In an email to my brother David (Oct 29), I wrote:"
I see they've posted our result from the o-meet. I think some of the guys who beat us on the orange course were army cadets, while others were local club members and already familiar with this forest. So I think our result is respectable."
In David's email response (Nov 3), he wrote:"
I think our orienteering results are fine, especially since I had spent absolutely no time practicing my map-reading skills. I'm sure if we were 20 years old, in great physical shape and with eagle eye-sight, we would have finished in under 1 hour. As is was, we had a wonderful 2 hour walk in the woods on a beautiful fall morning."

Talcott Mountain. Simsbury, CT. Morning hike with Smadar on trail up to Heublein Tower. Spent about 1/2 hour in and around the tower enjoying the scenics and taking photos. Also stopped along trail for more photo- ops. Gorgeous autumn morning.

West Hartford, CT. USA. Chilly this morning. Tried to take the sunniest route possible, from neighborhood, to golf course, to St. Joseph track (one loop around), and back to Dad's house.
