Running warm up/down 10:00 [1]

Orienteering race (Day 5 - Sprint) 17:50 [5] 2.3 km (7:45 / km) +70m 6:44 / km

This course was insane- 23 controls in 2.3km. I was ranked 6 so started quite late. I had fun and didn't have any major errors, just some hesitation and I had to stop quite a bit to read the map. I came 4th overall :) and was the first south african. Overall I came 4th for the whole 5 day:) thanks to everyone who organized the events, it has been an amazing 5 days. So excited for the next Big Five in 2014:)

Orienteering race (Day 3- Belfast Plantation) 1:30:00 [5] 10.4 km (8:39 / km) +185m 7:57 / km

The long event. Well... I actually really enjoyed the event today :) Normally the long events are a nightmare for me! The area was really well mapped. I was alone till num 11. And I hardly had any trouble with any of those controls. I was relaxed and was pacing myself. I caught up to Jess, Lisa and Zoe on the way to control 11 I had focused so much on catching up to them that I lost contact with the map. I lost about 1 min. I kept trying to get away from the group, so I would get ahead but then mess up the navigation. So i lost 30 sec at 13 and about 2 min at 14. I finally managed to pull away. I made a bad route choice to 19 - about 2 min. and a careless error in the circle at 20 ( 30 sec). I was expecting 21 to be hard to find so I took it super slow. Othe rthan that there were a couple of 15 sec errors, but nothing major. Overall it was a lot of fun, and not a physically demanding as I thought it would be. I think I shoud have started a bit faster. I was the 1st South African:) I don't know where I placed with the foreigners.

Orienteering race (Day 2 - Dulstroom Urban) 44:27 [5] 4.8 km (9:16 / km)

It was so hot!!! I messed up number 1, which really threw me off. After that till number 5 they all went ok. 5-6 was this super long leg. I chose to stick to the tar road, i still think it was the best route choice, it was just damn depressing running. At times i felt like i was going backwards. I lost about 2 min in the dark green around num 6. The rest of the course was all ok.

Orienteering race (Day 1 - Belfast Middeldam) 47:11 [4] 4.8 km (9:50 / km) +45m 9:23 / km

Ahhh I had the most terrible weather ever. As a started running the rain started. I was soaking wet before the first control. There was also insane thunder and lightning. And to round it all off, it started to hail. I was the last starter so I didn't want to get lost and be stuck alone in the storm so I took it a bit slower to make sure I didn't have any big mistakes. I ended up 6th overall and the 2nd South african.
