Hiking 3:00:00 [1] 10.0 km (18:00 / km)

I had arranged my schedule to not do any school work during the day because it was dad's birthday. Unfortunately, our plans to have a socially distanced picnic with my aunt in West Vancouver fell through. Fortunately, we decided to go for a family hike instead. We decided to branch out from the book and plan our own route this time. Our hike paralleled one that we had done earlier in our hiking series (from Ioco to Lion's park in Poco) but this one was further up the slope. We started at Bert Flinn park (which has some lovely woods worth considering for mapping) into Heritage Woods secondary. We made our way through neighbourhoods and trails to the top part of the Coquitlam crunch and then down through ridge park (beautiful open woods but pretty steep). We followed the powerline down to the top part of Lafarge lake and ended at Nestor park. A bit shorter distancewise than some of the other hikes, but it was quite lovely. The weather was perfect, the trails were quiet (except for on the Crunch), and the route was one of the more enjoyable (especially the views out across the valley from a different perspective than we are used to). Glad that I got a chance to get out and do something before diving back into a busy, busy week at school.
