Orienteering race 1:01:50 [4] 5.62 km (11:00 / km) +159m 9:39 / km

Bohemia 5 Day - Day 5
Back to the same area as the yesterday's event but today was Long Distance style not Middle Distance.
I missed the cut for the Chasing Start so started on 2 min intervals with BB the last chaser, tricky steep gully spur terrain with a liberal scattering of rock. Everything from the giant rock pillars (example below) to insignificant 0.5m rocks on the side of a spur as control sites.
Lacking in energy after 4 days but no major mistakes until 12 where I misread the small forest tracks and ended up in the wrong gully and took a couple of minutes to work it out and another minute or so to get to the right gully.
Picked up a couple of places and ended 20th overall, BB whooped me and was 11th which was a great effort with his more consistent navigation and stronger running as the days went on.

Another middle distance and more rocks, some huge towers but with a strong underlying gully spur network. Started 4th starter and was called leading M65 when I finished but the glory moment did not last long and ended up around 13th or 14th
Was cautious after the previous major screw up in the rock and maybe could have pushed a little harder but then most likely would have come unstuck.
Only significant error was stopping one track short where track went through a maze of rock and I did not see it on the ground as it looked like more cliffs!

What a disaster day in the rock detail.
The course winner did 32:16 and I took 30:01 to find the first control!
Went strait to the right section of rock detail and slid down a few gullies past lots of boulders and cliffs, found about 3 other controls. Decided I must be in the wrong rock complex and tried again at least three times before I finally found it! My glasses were steamed up and so was I and just not thinking clearly as well as struggling to see the fine detail.
Messed up two or three more controls and was dead on my feet by the end of the course
Hoping for a better day tomorrow - can't get much worse other than a DNF.

Day 1 Bohemia Orienteering
Nice open pine forest with a scattering of beech steep gully spur so had to be at the right level. M65 racing BB after control 1 where I learnt not too go too low and lost 5 minutes! Need to make up a couple of minutes over the next couple of days
