Orienteering race (Loops Day) 55:29 [4] 5.78 km (9:36 / km) +111m 8:45 / km

Three loops on a hilly course, tried to keep up a reasonable pace but the hills were the winners. Was well on track, navigation wise, until the last couple of controls when I struggled to work out a knoll in a creek system.

Can't recall ever doing 5 Orienteering races in five days before but it was good fun and would go to the Xmas 5 Days again. Not sure about Beechworth 2012 with the potential for hot weather and fires

Orienteering race (Mass Start) 57:17 [4] 7.17 km (7:59 / km) +55m 7:42 / km

Mass Start event, went well and got away from my pack then could not work out the subtle gully so lost all the time again!

Orienteering race (Long Distance) 1:00:11 [4] 6.29 km (9:34 / km) +115m 8:46 / km

Much the best of the three days so far, still nearly 50% off the winner Ted but felt like I was not doing stupid mistakes and whilst not fast I kept going better. Quite thick and steep in parts which may have levelled the field although in some cases the long track runs proved to be the best. One dumb mistake on the last leg when I miss read the tracks and wwas suprised to be in the big clearing and took a few second to work it out.

Orienteering race (Middle Distance) 57:36 [4] 5.97 km (9:39 / km) +27m 9:26 / km

Southams Rd West south of Cessnock. interesting Gully Spur map with lots of errosion gulliers that could be steep to climb in and out of, thought when I mesed up No 2 turning back when 5m from the control and going nearly back to No 1 it was not going to be my day! Kept with Colin Price from much of the way to near 11 when I made a similar mistake and turned the wrong way when I hit the creek and went way too far before coming back to the spot where I started and going the eaxtra 10m. The wheels completely fell off on the last two controls and i lost about 10 minutes wandering around in headless chook mode.

Orienteering race (Long Sprint) 38:31 [0] 5.3 km (7:16 / km) +99m 6:39 / km

Well named Long Sprint at Orimbah Campus - nice area for a sprint if you can! Was caught by Eoin at No. 11 having thought I was clever at 8 and went to the top of the 3m wall only to find I have rad the description wrong and it really was at the base so lost some time otherwise I could have held him off for a another couple of controls. Followed Eoin to 13 but we both failed to see the steps at the end of what appeared to be a deadend and went back out and I doid not see the boy again after that.
