Orienteering race 1:06:14 [5] 7.44 km (8:54 / km) +183m 7:56 / km

Aust Champs Relay - In a M45A team with Rob West and Peter O'Loughlin - we should have enetered M21AS but went off 1st leg and struggled with a lack of legs. Took a long northerly route #2- #3 which on looking at the map afterwards was not the best but it looked like it saves climb at the time. Lost any sight of the pack here and plodded around the rest lost a couple of minutes at 5 when I did not see the subtle gully with the control and overshoot.

Really nice area and would like to go back sometime

Orienteering race 1:09:46 [5] 8.16 km (8:33 / km) +220m 7:32 / km

Australian Champs - Great area but was not right at the start and messed up the 2nd control which should have been easy as it was across the other side of a pond. For some reason went West instead of South and after looking at a couple of other controls saw James Lithgow (2mins behind) running across to the control. Number 3 was also a screw up and long leg across the paddock but went out on the wrong track from number 2 and had to do an extra 2-300m so Bert Elston (4 minutes) caught me at 3. Settled down after that but it was hard work on the steep slopes and was tracking Bert all the way around. managed to get ahead at 9 but took a hard work crossing of the gully and was back behind through the last few and ran out of energy on the last leg

Orienteering race 18:12 [5] 2.81 km (6:29 / km) +31m 6:09 / km

Australian Sprint - ran quite well and made mininmal mistakes - plan was to try and get back before Geoff Lawford who was starting 4 minutes after me. Got run down at the last control along with James Lithgow

Good fun area but a few legs seems to lack choice which was fine as I usually make the wrong ones on Sprints!

Road Cycling 1:38:32 [3] 34.92 km (21.3 kph) +357m
shoes: Piave Bike

Another ride over Menglers Hill and then to lunch at Maggie Beer

Ride was harder on my own as I did not stop at the lookout and was pushing a bit harder to make the top, good job I did nothave a HR monitor as I think it might have been way up there. Nice ride back down to Angaston and along the bike path to Nurioopta before a good lunch

Running 21:48 [3] 4.0 km (5:27 / km)

Short run to test my ankle up the main road and and around plus a lap of the footy oval - overshoot the rentaal house as I was concentrating on running up the hill and noit looking at the streets?

Road Cycling 1:35:46 [3] 32.0 km (20.0 kph) +232m
shoes: Piave Bike

Ride out from Tanuda to Angaston via Mengler Hill - reasonable 7% climb but not too long so made it without too much trouble
Broke the speed limit in Angaston and had a good coffee in town, terrible bike path back along the side the highway into Tanunda and very cold southerly wind.

Orienteering race 56:21 [4] 6.86 km (8:13 / km) +109m 7:36 / km

SA State Long Distance Championship at Mack Creek Para Wirra Rec Park

Missed #4 and found another larger cliff mapped as a boulder and lost a couple of minutes
Ran hard along the track to 6 then 7 thinking I would fall on the control but turned west when I shouldl have gone east and lost another couple of minutes
Managed to stay 12th as the previous day but a few different people ahead and behind

11 AM

Orienteering race 34:55 [4] 4.03 km (8:40 / km) +71m 7:58 / km

Australian Middle distance Champs at Para Wirra park in mining gully spur.
Tight course with lots of pits and other mining features overlaid on the Gully Spur ran well with no real errors until 12 which I had seen on the way the start. Totally confussed with seeing a building on the ground when I could not see the building on the map and reluctant to move until I knew where I was. Still confused but went a few metres and saw the control, lost a 2 minutes - very frustrating mistkae
Lost time at 16 on a thicket when I went to the worng one and then truned the wrong way, so people saw others coming out as it was a bit of a dog leg.
12th which was at least as good as I expected.
