Bute Highland Games Road 10km

Seems like an odd race for a Highland Games but thought I might as well have a go and pay for my trip to the island.

Felt very good in the first 5km - 15.35. Then we turned round...

Bit of a slog into the wind back to the finish.

By myself from 10 metres in to the finish though I'm not sure I gained anything in the second half.

Again HR a lot higher than I would have expected for the effort level.

WOC Qualifier

Mistake to first meant wasn't ideal but didn't panic and still felt confident about qualifying.

Did feel like I was having to work harder than anticipated. Heart rate hit 200 which I've never hit on this watch in the last 2 years.

A few poor routechoices but mainly losing time physically. Heart rate was where I'd expect it so don't think I could have got anything more out on the day.

Disappointing especially given how good I was feeling just a few weeks ago.
