Orienteering race 1:27:00 [3]

Day 2 - Boulder Dash - much smoother than Day 1. One 5- minute error on #3; slow relocation. With pace counting and check-off features, did stay in contact with map at all other times. Did struggle in control circle at 6, 10, and 13.

6th on M55.
250 m longer, 1 minute faaster. Few Green X were faster on Day 2.

Orienteering race 1:28:00 [3]

Day 1 Boulder Dash. Still pretty unused to NH terrain. With medium visibility, Day 1 was tough on me. Three 3-6 minutes errors. Twice took rough bearing to dry swamp, did not check off features, missed wide right. Did relocate withou bailing - lucky 2nd time. 3rd error was brain-dead: Refused to notice that 'wide NS swamp' was not 'narrow EW dry stream' - so when in trouble, "climb a knoll". Stayed in contact, but without confidence on all other legs. Great course - no 'gimmee' legs.

8th in M55 - unusually deep age group (Tarry, Jeff, Ken Sr, etc.). But times on Green X were really spread out with Steve and Ken breaking 60.

Orienteering 1:50:00 [2]

Map reading and a bit of jogging at Pawtuckaway. First time on the map - Wow! Totally lost 2-3 times, finally had a couple confident 'legs'.

Only 30 miles apart, but amazingly different terrain - ie rocks, than Boulder Dash south of Concord. Still it was great to be on THE P map.

Swimming 15:00 [2]

Cool down - jumped in lake at Pawtuckaway. Perfect water temp.
