Orienteering (Kenine Hill H2) 1:28:40 [4] 10.9 km (8:08 / km)

Oooh there's going to be some fine entertainment on Routegadget this week :-)

Today was much better. Far less Juffy (except briefly at control 9) but a bit too much Nicki. I royally messed up the first control but after that I used plans, and attackpoints, and was perfectly clean until the 12th control. I think I got tired about then. I made a silly mistake on 13, lost contact with the map and ran almost to 14 before realising and turning back. Found it ok and thought "ooh, I won't do that again" so I didn't look at the map or take a bearing but ran in the vague direction that I thought 14 might be in. That didn't work. 10min later I figured it out, found 14 and got a bit nervous and took the safe route to 15 via a nice fence. I was running along cursing John for always being annoyingly right when he ran past! Bah. Uneventful finish. I thought I'd made it home safely until Juffy appeared, smirking, just before the last control.

Orienteering (control collecting) 30:00 [1]

Nice invalid-speed pootle through a really pretty area with Coach John. I asked Carol if we could collect my nemesis controls so that he could tell me where I went wrong. On the way to 14 I did exactly what I had done the first time! On purpose, of course, for coaching purposes, haha.

Orienteering (Kenine Hill H2) 48:00 [4] 7.0 km (6:51 / km)

Great map, fun course, but far too much Juffy. Juffy started just in front of me but ran slowly so that i could catch up, and then continued to run slowly so that I could run ahead, in random circles, practicing my pinball-style nav. Then he would appear with a scarily Toomey-esque smirk and punch the control just before me.
Once I made a really silly mistake, ran 3 times around the wrong boulder cluster before I climbed on TOP of the boulder, and in desperation took a back-bearing off a radio tower, then ran down the hill to the right boulder. Juffy was hiding behind it, smirking.
On the last control I ran randomly across a spiky paddock, looking up just in time to avoid running into the start area.
On the whole I did ok running to the circle, but was really messy towards the controls. I had a long postmortem with john who said i need a plan, and an attackpoint. He is probably right, most of the time i am just running vaguely the right way and it doesn't work.

Orienteering (Eddie's novelty event) 5:00 [4] 1.0 km (5:00 / km)

tRicky and I outsprinted some old people and left them in the dark, in order to win a bottle of wine.

Commute 26:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:10 / km)
slept:8.0 shoes: Shiny carbon pro lite

Feeling good today! Maybe one day I will start training again :-)

Commute (truncated) 20:00 [2] 9.0 km (2:13 / km)
shoes: Shiny carbon pro lite

J and I have an agreement that if he passes me before i reach Hale Rd I get a lift home. Today I had an epiphany. After riding pretty hard from Northbridge to Powis St trying to embarrass a bludging roadie into passing me, I realised that I was early and John would be FAR more likely to pass me if I was not moving so fast. So i sat by Herdsan Lake and watched the ducks :-) until he rescued me and then for an encore I didn't go running. I call this my post Nav Dash brain recovery which is going to blend seamlessly into my prerogaine taper.

Commute (uneventful) 27:00 [3] 12.0 km (2:15 / km)
slept:8.0 shoes: Shiny carbon pro lite

The commuterbike only has one foot so I rode the fast bike. I rode it until I got to work, at which point I stopped riding and started work.
Noone tried to kill me, or pass me, or talk to me. tRicky never rode past. I didn't race any trains or fall off my bike or even stop for an icecream. My fingers got a bit cold but they soon warmed up. I wore a helmet.

Commute 29:00 [2] 13.0 km (2:14 / km)
shoes: Shiny carbon pro lite

Definitely eventful on the way home! I met the craziest commuter in Perth. I didn't take a photo because he was soooo commuter that I think he was probably psychotic and didn't think it would be very wise to upset him.
